Mami Tomoe vs Alex Mercer

It's in-character for Mami to just ribbon trap someone and **** off, it's what she did for Homura.

How does it get past Mercer's resistance to Power Null though?

So far, she can nullify magical girls that are supposed to have Power Null resistance (Power Null resistance should be listed in Homura's profile), but Mercer's Power Null resistance by absorbing someone that can straight up resist what has previously nullified Mercer's abilities. Mami may have two layers of Power Nullification, but Mercer has two layers of Power Null resistance. Mercer's resistance should proof to be effective here.

Is Mami's Power Nullification restricted to just magic and abilities of magical origin? Or can she nullify more than that? A series all about magical stuff (hence the name "magical girls") doesn't really help give me more information about the mechanics of Mami's Power Null.

If that's the case, then she isn't doing anything to Mercer.

All of Mercer's abilities (including shapeshifting) comes from the Blacklight Virus, and he is the Blacklight Virus itself. His abilities basically comes from his own physiology.

Combine that with Mercer's own Power Null resistance... Yeah.

Wait her power null has failed against physiological powers? if so this is a total stomp, as all mercer powers are based on his physiological makeup. She cant even neg his regen as its high and all she can neg is mid.

so at the moment the fight starts, mercer gasses the area and she ribbon traps him. She drops from the infection and mercer walks off.


Im not really sure on this to me it looks like a bit of a stomp, as her powernull isn't garenteed and she has no way to deal with mercer gassing the area.

It's never been shown to outright fail on physiological abilities, just it's never been shown to exactly work on them so I'm fairly sure an ability like dripping out of the ribbons would work.

So mercer gets caught in the ribbons, pushes his tendrils/slime through and proceeds to gass the area. As it sounds like at the least it hasn't negged biolgoical manip/shapeshifting.

Absorption is part of his physiological abilities. He could just absorb the Ribbons... Or escape through other shapeshifting nonsense...

If not, then he can just gas the entire area and infect Mami. The viral gasses are a part of himself after all.

She has no resistance to disease manip or absorbtion and at best she may get her ribbon trap off at the same time mercer gasses (with speed equal). Which falls to a victory for mercer as she drops dead before he can be considered incapacitated.

Because someone basically asked if his Absorption is dependent on AP or not, which I'm pretty sure it isn't.

it is very irrelevant to this fight as it will be decided by the gas long before that. Still it was simply another win con for mercer.
