Magic resistance questions

1. If x character resists magic and all of y characters abilities are based in magic, does x character resist these abilities by virtue of resisting the main ability?

2. Are there any examples of NLF on this resistance? Excluding things like higher dimension stuff.

For the 1 i suppose it depend if the magic resistance is tell to resist magic in general or not. If it tell to be then yes

For a better comparison, x character resists magic but does not resist sleep manipulation while y character has magic based sleep manipulation, does x character resist the sleep manipulation.

It's depend from what come the resist magic, it's that i talk about.

In some verse you have direct statement/feat/description of magic resistance allowing you to resist everything related to magic in certain lvl, otherwise i suppose he will just resist what he show to resist

Oh, so if something like sleep manipulation magic doesn’t exist you shouldn’t resist it.
