Martial Arts in GoH in particular are made for the explicit purpose of overcoming AP gaps

I'm pretty sure martial arts can do that in general via pressure points.

That's less a martial arts thing and more just attacking weaker points of an opponent, which anyone who knows what to hit can pull off

Like, wrestling can choke someone out but most martial arts is just learning how to punch and defend yourself properly, which is a force multiplier for your power and certainly helpful against someone who doesn't have it, but in God of Highschool they have outright supernatural properties as an inherent part of their creation, beyond the actual superhuman feats they achieve and explicitly making whoever uses them able to fight more powerful opponents
