Korosensei additions

Yes, but the distance from the beam and how far he moved decides how fast he is. That needs to be calculated.

The scientists' reactions should be proof tentacle-sama is greater than mach 20, even in universe- the mach 20 statement was just from him casually travelling across the globe, you can see him sweating here in this instance and other times during his zipping across the globe he's not shown to be sweating lol, this is anything but his casual speed, more like his upper end speed when he's exerting himself.

There's a difference between reaction speed and travel speed

I'm pretty sure this would scale to his reaction speed rather than overall speed

Okay. We still need a calculation though.

Yes, but that does not automatically mean that Korosensei moved at lightspeed, given the distance that the beam had to travel.

Speed of light is always a constant regardless the distance. Aim Dodoging won't do as Kororsensei didn't even know the weapon was there.

If you dodge a speeding 100 km/h car by moving out of the way at 200 meters distance, that does not mean that you move at 100 km/h yourself.

There's also the fact that Koro-sensei has a canon speed limit of about Mach 20, which he can accelerate to in seconds.

So if Koro-sensei had a premonition that something terrible was about to happen it would not be a stretch for him to escape the room at Mach 20 before the laser hit him.

Yes, dodging a speed of light beam fired from a far distance does not remotely require FTL movement.

Okay. We still need a calculation though.

We would need the extra context shots. I do not debate AssClass in particular, and basically just watched the anime. One of the experts on the verse should probably take a look

All I can assume is that this feat is just an outlier, or the author just overestimating how fast Mach 20 actually is. This is pretty much directly contradicted a couple chapters beforehand as the students surpass Koro's speed by going mach 23 in a rocket, Koro even still considers himself to be mach 20 later on. If we don't consider it an outlier then it should be a sub-rel-relativistic feat as he dodged light from 250 miles away. The God of Death's monster form is also shown to be mach 40, and we know that is far faster than Korosensei.
