Whitebeard
Whitebeard by bloodybarbarian-d34fqey
==Powers and Stats´╗┐==
Tier: Likely 6-B

Name:
Edward Newgate, epithet "Whitebeard", "Strongest Man in the World", "The Man Closest to One Piece"

Origin: One Piece

Gender: Male

Age: 72 at time of death

Classification: Human, Captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, Former Yonko (Four Pirate Emperors), Paramecia Devil Fruit User

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, (Kenbunshoku Haki, Busōshoku Haki and Haōshoku Haki), Precognition (via Kenbunshoku Haki), Limited Air Manipulation (Was able to casually blow out the "flames" on a magma rock launched by Akainu), Can create powerful shockwaves through any medium with the power of the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, Expert Bisento Wielder, Can use Busōshoku Haki to surround his body and weapon with an invisible armor to augment his defensive and offensive capabilities and allow him to ignore the pseudo-intangibility of Logia Fruit users and others like them, Explosive + Overwhelming Aura and Limited Empathic Manipulation via Haoshoku Haki (Capable of emitting large shock-waves that can send opponents flying and generate an aura that targets weak-willed opponents--weakening their conscience, causing them to seize, or if the opponent has a low level of intelligence [comparable to that of a wild animal], they may even be swayed to join forces with the user. However, an opponent with even somewhat comparable willpower to the user will be immune to its effects), Resistance to Heat (Was not bothered by the ambient heat Akainu let off in his magma form and resisted direct magma attacks, albeit with eventually fatal burn injuries)

Attack Potency: Likely Country level via powerscaling (Stronger than the Three Admirals and likely more powerful than the other Yonko. He was considered the strongest man in the world even past his prime.)

Speed: Likely Massively Hypersonic+ (Faster than Marco and the Admirals)

Lifting Strength: Class T (Garp has strength in the billions of tons, so naturally so would Whitebeard)

Striking Strength: Likely Country Class (Harmed the three Admirals despite their Logia intangibility)

Durability: Likely Country level (It took the combined efforts from all three Admirals to do sufficient enough damage to Whitebeard to weaken him to the point when Marshall D. Teach (Blackbeard) could harm him. However, he did not die until after all of the Blackbeard pirates attacked him together after Akainu had already taken part of his head, and put a hole in his abdomen).

Stamina: Marvelous, despite his old age and illness. During the Marineford Battle he continued to do battle while accumulating injuries and literally had taken 267 sword wounds, 152 gunshot wounds, and 46 wounds from cannon balls. The sum adds up to a total of 465 hits, most significantly those he received from Akainu and Kizaru, and even soldiered on after having half his face taken by Akainu. Weaker characters with less endurance were also able to continuously battle one another for ten days.

Range: Extended melee range to several meters with his bisento, at least several hundred meters with air quakes (can also indirectly generate effects much further than that, at the very least hundreds of kilometers away)

Standard Equipment: His bisento (A polearm resembling a glaive, with a long, heavy half and a heavy, curved blade)

Intelligence: Whitebeard is the pirate closest to obtaining the "One Piece" treasure in the entire world, and along with a couple of decades worth of experience, is the single most-dangerous pirate in his world. He has sufficient leadership qualities to oversee a last-minute invasion of Marineford, an incredibly skilled military strategist, and a match for Sengoku the Buddha. His tactical prowess was demonstrated when he scattered the pirates so that they wouldn't be routed by Pacifista, or when he bypassed the siege wall and has mastered his Gura Gura no Mi.

Weaknesses: Whitebeard cannot swim and becomes immobilized if more than half of his body is covered in water. He's also a static fighter and doesn't usually dodge incoming attacks from opponents.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

Haki:
There are normally two types of Haki regular people can tap into: the Kenbunshoku Haki which allows individuals to sense the presence of others, and Busōshoku Haki which allows individuals to create an invisible armor around them. There is however a third type of Haki, Haōshoku Haki, that only a few individuals can use. Whitebeard is one of these people.

  • Haōshoku Haki (Color of the Conquering King): The ability to knock out someone else or a large group. While inexperienced users are restricted to intimidating one being or blindly knocking out any with weak wills around them, those with more expertise can pick out weak willed individuals in a large group to knock out.
  • Busōshoku Haki (Color of Armaments): A form of Haki that allows the user to create an "invisible armor" around themselves. With that, they can protect himself from attacks, and if trained well, use it to deliver stronger attacks. Besides the increase of strength, it is the only form of attack that doesn't involve Kairouseki that can hit any Devil Fruit user, being able to hit the user's original body even if it's a Logia user. It can also be used in weapons.
  • Kenbunshoku Haki (Color of Observation or Mantra): A form of Haki that allows the user to sense the presence of his opponents. A user of this type of Haki can predict an opponent's moves before he gets hit. This works by showing the user an image or brief "premonition" of what the opponent will do, manifested as a mental image in the user's mind's eye, and the damage the user will take if the attack "hit" for real. It appears that the more killer intent the enemy has the easier they are to predict, though more efficient users can predict future moves regardless whether there are ambient murderous intents or not. Including the distance, location, and where the opponent may strike next.

Gura Gura no Mi (Tremor-Tremor Fruit): Whitebeard ate the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, turning him into a "Tremor Human" that can create incredibly powerful shockwaves through virtually any medium, including air, land, and the seafloor.

  • Kaishin: Whitebeard swings his arm (or arms) and literally cracks the air itself, sending devastating shock waves through the air in the direction it is facing. These shock waves are able to pass through and damage almost any substance, literally tearing it apart. The shock waves can also be sent into the sea, generating huge tsunamis, and can be used in conjunction with physical attacks in close-quarters combat - as Akainu can attest. This attack is so powerful, that the combined Busoshoku Haki of all three Admirals was needed to nullify it.
    • Gekishin: A close range version of Kaishin, causing severe damage to even giants and an admiral. He can also passively generate vibrations around himself to ward off attacks like Aokiji's freezing mist.
  • Kabutowari: Whitebeard converges quakes into a sphere of focused power around his fist, effectively harnessing his terrible destructive power into a pinpoint attack he can use in close-quarters combat while avoiding collateral damage (evident when Moby Dick's deck didn't suffer a single dent when he crushes Ronse's head with a quake bubble against it).
  • Naginata Rasetsu: Whitebeard surrounds his bisento with the same bubble to greatly increase its striking power and range
  • Shima Yurashi: Whitebeard grips the air as if it were tangible and pulls on it, releasing a massive shockwave that was powerful enough to tilt all of Marineford despite its reinforcements along with the seas that Aokiji had frozen.
  • Quake-Explosion: Similar to his quake bubble, Whitebeard focuses his quake power around in a sphere of focused power, with the difference that he then sends it forward and releases it in an explosion-like quake.
Garnet
Garnetart
Tier: 6-B
Name:
Garnet

Origin: Steven Universe

Gender: Genderless (Though appears as and commonly referred to as female)

Age: Over 6000 years old

Classification: Gem, Crystal Gem, Gem Fusion

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Regenerationn (Low-High), Immortality (Types 1 and 3), Shapeshifting, Size Manipulation, Body Control, Biological Manipulation, Can fuse with other gems to become more powerful and unfuse to become Ruby and Sapphire, Can contain gems in bubbles., Automatic-adjustment to different strengths of gravity, Does not need oxygen to survive, Extreme Pain Tolerance, Skilled gauntlet user, Light Manipulation, Precognition, Immunity to extreme heat, extreme pressure, and electricity, Electricity Manipulation

Attack Potency: Country level (Defeated Jasper, Her shapeshifting yielded this much energy, Even very early on in the series, she, along with Pearl and Amethyst, casually defeated a sentient island that was said to be a tectonic emergency. Should be far superior to Ruby)

Speed: Relativistic+ in Combat Speed and Reactions (Faster than Pearl)

Lifting Strength: At least Class 25 (Easily lifted a Gem Injector over her head with one hand, leapt hundreds of meters in the air while carrying a fishing boat, Can casually lift and carry around an axe several times larger than herself with one arm)

Striking Strength: Country Class

Durability:
Country level (Tanked hits from Jasper)

Stamina: Limitless so long as her gems aren't damaged or destroyed

Range: Standard melee range to several dozen meters, several dozen meters with projectile gauntlets and electrokinesis

Standard Equipment: Gauntlets (Upgraded with spiked brasses added on to them)

Intelligence: High (Composite of Ruby and Sapphire, Garnet is very intelligent as well as a tactical genius, but often has difficulty solving more menial problems)

Weaknesses: Enough damage to her physical form can make her unfuse back into Ruby and Sapphire. Further damage to them will revert them back to their vulnerable gem forms which can be broken and destroyed. If her emotional state becomes unstable, she will revert to Ruby and Sapphire (which is harder than it sounds as she is the most stable gem fusion), and possesses little problem-solving skills outside of combat.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Gauntlet Proficiency: When channeling the collective power of the universe through her gemstones, Garnet can summon a pair of gauntlets. Garnet is highly proficient when using her gauntlets and is extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat. She can deal massive strikes that can easily shatter the earth and deliver swift blows with lightning speed.
    • Rocket Gauntlet: Garnet takes aim with her gauntlets and shoots them as projectiles in "Watermelon Steven". In "Reformed", after Garnet launches her gauntlets, her hands are detached from her body, and her gemstones are moved to the stubs of her arms.
    • Weapon Size Augmentation: Garnet can increase the size of her gauntlets, easily quadrupling their size, and deal increased damage at the cost of reduced speed. This was hinted during "Garnet's Universe". Being an imaginary story, that means Steven knew about that power before the real debut.
    • Deflection: Garnet can use her gauntlets as shields as seen in "Onion Trade" to deflect a volley of Dave Guys. They are also used in "Catch and Release" to block Peridot's electrokinetic discharge in Amethyst's whip, although it is unknown whether Garnet simply prevented the electric current using her gauntlets or absorbed it with her electrokinesis.
    • Sonic Gauntlets: As seen in "Gem Harvest", Garnet can pound her gauntlets into something and create a sonic wave strong enough to make something, such as carrots, fly out of the ground.
  • Photokinesis: In "It Could've Been Great", Garnet can be seen using Photokinesis along with Pearl and Peridot. This might be a power that every Gem can use.
  • Item Summon: Garnet has the ability to materialize different items out of her gemstone(s), similarly to Pearl. In "Serious Steven", she summoned the key to the Pyramid Temple. Who she inherited this ability from is unknown.
  • Future Vision: Garnet can see multiple future outcomes and probabilities with her third eye (Sapphire's eye) as revealed in "Future Vision". This includes extremely unlikely and ridiculous outcomes, as a considerable amount of her available visions depict Steven's (and possibly other individuals') demise at the hands of mundane tasks or objects on a regular basis. The ability does take some time to use, as she has been shown in a thinking position when activating it. During that time, someone can alter the future, as seen in "Marble Madness", when Steven ruined the plan to learn about Peridot by going up to her while Garnet was still using future vision. This power comes from Sapphire, as confirmed in "Keystone Motel", although it is yet to be seen whether Sapphire's prediction abilities are more accurate than Garnet's. Her future vision seems to operate at will and with only specific details that she is looking for, as in "Cry for Help" when her future vision overlooked Pearl's actions and their consequences, Garnet only noticed that Peridot was in none of the potential futures. Garnet's future vision differs from Sapphire's in that Sapphire constantly sees one long-term future while Garnet searches through multiple short-term futures.
    • Temporary Power Transfer: In "Winter Forecast" and "Jail Break", it is shown that she can temporarily pass on her future vision ability to others through lip contact. While Garnet has only been seen using lip-to-forehead contact to transfer her power, it is unknown if this is the only method. As she has only been seen sharing her power with Steven, her affection could say bias on how she chooses to transfer the power. It is shown in "Future Boy Zoltron" that she is able to transfer her power for a much longer time.
  • Heat Resistance: Her invulnerability is most commonly displayed in her extreme resistance to heat, from when she had scalding-hot coffee splash onto her without flinching in "Future Vision" to when she left to retrieve the Earth Beetle (which required her to swim in active lava) in "Giant Woman". It has also been said that she could swim in the core of the Sun and survive. This may be because of Ruby's thermo-regulation.
  • Enhanced Calculations: Garnet mentions her ability to sense structural integrity in "Cheeseburger Backpack". It is currently unknown whether this is a unique power, a separate portion of her heightened senses like her future vision, or just a simple observation.
  • Electrokinesis: Garnet can generate electricity, as seen in "The Message" when she used it to charge the battery of Greg's van, "Catch and Release" tangling with Peridot, and "Arcade Mania" when she restarted "Meat Beat Mania" after Steven unplugged the game.
    • Electric Resistance: Garnet is impervious to electricity, as seen in "Future Vision" when she easily deflected a lightning bolt that was about to hit her and Steven with her gemstone. It, again, is seen in "Catch and Release" when she stopped Peridot's electricity from traveling down Amethyst's whip, only to send her own electricity back at her.
    • Electric Jump: In "When It Rains", Garnet uses her electrokinesis on the offensive for the second time, generating electricity and releasing it on impact with the ground, while the energy then travels to the target. This particular move is long-ranged.
ITS TIME. A battle over two years in the making. Theyve been through downgrades. Theyve been through upgrades. And now, theyre on the same level again. After two threads, its time to settle this. In character, no prior knowledge or prep time, SPEED EQUALIZED. Who wins?

Garnet - 0

Whitebeard - 0

Inconclusive - 1 (KinkiestSins, Sir Ovens)

Oh boi.

In a shocking turn of events, whitebeard has his third rematch with garnet. The two have a strong bond with their friends and are willing to set their lives on the line. Will Garnet punch him to death or will whitebeards quake abilities overpower her? Find out in the next comment of Steven Piece Z.

Garnet Advantages -Higher AP -Better Precog -Better CQC (I will get to that in a minute) -More experience

Whitebeard Advantages -Better Range and Environmental Destructive Capacity. -Better lifting strength -Haoshoku Haki inflicts fear and could lead to an unfusion (I doubt it, but I cant deny the possibility)

Whitebeard, even when weakened is capable of fighting Warlord level opponents such as Teach, who also defeated Ace with seemingly no permanent injuries. Also, he has a really bad tendecy to get hit, and is closer to a tank with crazy range. Honestly, the chance of him creating an earthquake and garnet stumbling on the ground is high.

Garnet on the other hand rarely if ever gets hit in the few fights we have seen her in. Her style requires CQC, and with her precog she is better at deciphering her opponents weaknesses and weaponry. Although for argument sake, I will consider whitebeard 9 teratons in power via haki since that is garnet output. (You will see why)

So assuming they can edge out in ap, I think it comes down to their personality.

Garnet with her precog will likely know to some extent not to let whitebeard get far away, because otherwise she is finishe as he can spam quake bubbles. Whitebeard excels at the range game. Whitebeard can maybe keep up with Garnet in power for a bit, but him wasting blows on Garnet as she dodges easily will lead me to believe that he will know eventually to back away and gain some distance.

If the question is now is, which is more likely to happen. Him backing away for bubble spam or garnet punching him until he dies? I say Garnet is more likely to keep whitebeard pressured at close combat because precog. I cant deny tho that whitebeard while he is mobile, can use quake bubbles to keep her away from him until...well, the end of time or until she poofs. Long range, with shockwaves and electric attacks, at least garnet can defend herself but whitebeard as stated above has higher environmental destruction.

I say Inconclusive, they just have ways of countering eachother greatest strengths and it could probably last for a long time until either whitebeard dies from old age or he gets lucky and poofs her.

i was here for thirty minutes and I might change my vote later, but while the factors are simple, it kinda just leads to a thought experiment of 'which is more likely to happen first' which I honestly say I am not sure. For now.

Inconclusive, it comes down too either whitebeard quake spam or garnet punching him until he dies. Even with Haki, garnet precog should overcome the possibly matched ap.

>Whitebeard higher stamina

Man-laughing.jpg.838x0 q80

Gems literally don't get tired. They don't even have real bodies, they're made of light.

Long post still stands, although now I lean a tad to garnet.

Occams razor can dictate she just punches him over and over him again until he dies, but this is assuming that whitebeard cant counteract with his punches or quakes. Whitebeard could get tired, garnet does not.

That's ok, get some sleep buddy, it'll help with your judgement.

As for the fight, Garnet's precog is not perfect, and I dare say is worse than Whitebeard's. While Whitebeard has rather straightforward precog which allows him to read and dodge movements, Garnet has multiple timelines that she has to look through with only one of them being the true outcome. This leaves for a margin of error that is sure to be Garnet's downfall.

However, as I pointed out above, Garnet does not tire, and the possibility of outlasting Whitebeard is high, thus I'll also put this down as inconclusive.

Garnet stomps. Whitebeard scales to being 7 teratons. This is far from a fair match.
Yes it is? They are in the same tier? Whitebeard has higher strength, has better range and can maybe knock her fusion out with haki.

Don't use the "They're in the same tier" excuse. Especially whenever Garnet is MUCH stronger. And no he cannot knock her out via Conquerors Haki and that's a well known fact. Meanwhile Garnet has a massive AP advantage, stamina, precognition and experience. This match is far from fair my friend.

I didnt say knock her out, you did. I said knock her out of fusion.

Fusions that are in different states of mind such as fear unfuse, and garnet has been shown to be afraid and unfused before.

Not saying it would happen, but it is a possibility.

And it is not an excuse? 4-B and 4-A have the highest gaps on this wiki minus 3-B. There is a reason we have the tiering system in place.

I for one dont see it as such, doubt anyone else would either. Plus, this match has been down twice before... and I remember even when I was here wb vs garnet was still on their profiles before cin's upgrades.

Dude. Second time I'm saying this. Whitebeard is 7 teratons Garnet is 69 teratons.

"Whitebeard has better range" Ok? That doesn't mean shit whenever Garnet can literally tank everything.

"Lifting strength" How's this gonna come in handy?

"Can knock her out of fusion" Conquerors Haki isn't doing that and you obviously know that. Don't know why you think it's gonna suddenly work now.

Hmmmm apparently you forgot how tiers work. There's low end, mid end and high end. Garnet is almost 7 times stronger than Whitebeard. There's absolutely nothing he can do to damage her meanwhile she can one shot. You know how this works and you've been here long enough to know this is a one shot.

Whitebeard can knock back garnet over and over again until she poofs. She could maybe even be shattered if a wellplaced bubble quake hits her. Range allows him to win.

Lifting strength matters because he can probably throw a mountain at garnet and as she is bfred basically.

And yes, it possibly can, i am not saying it can or cant and in fact you have no provided any evidence on it not being possible.

Conquerors haki effects your emotions, right? He can haki her and she unfuses, now he just has two gems that cant fight back against him and he wins.

Garnet has been shown to be unstable with her fusion in cases of fear and shock, such as the episode where she started to unfuse because the effects of the gem mutants, she probably would have too if steven was not there.

And no? Because people can still win without ap. It is called Dante vs Noctis, Noctis has higher ap and he lost.

Zero vs Sora, a fair matchup had Zero win with a two magnitudes in strength and he won.

A stomp matchup means you have absolutely no way to kill or maim your opponent. Whitebeard still can, even playing devils advocate, he bfrs her into the atmosphere or smashes her gem stone with a quake etc etc.

We dont have this arbitary 'low' 'mid' or 'high' tier.

I have seen characters win and lose in different tiers. In fact, there is still arguments for whitebeard, and if there is an argument for him, it is likely not unfair.

If you still want to say it is a stomp, have another admin come look at this thread and have him close it.

I am not going to push this issue, stomp to you clearly means something different too me.

1: "Whitebeard can knock back garnet over and over again until she poofs. She could maybe even be shattered if a wellplaced bubble quake hits her. Range allows him to win." Again no that's not how it works. She literally can tank EVERYTHING Whitebeard can attack her with. So no Range isn't helping him here.

2: "Lifting strength matters because he can probably throw a mountain at garnet and as she is bfred basically." Lmao Whitebeard isn't gonna think of throwing a mountain at her. That's a piss poor excuse.

3: "And yes, it possibly can, i am not saying it can or cant and in fact you have no provided any evidence on it not being possible." No actually it's a well known fact those with strong wills and those who are just as strong as you will remain unaffected by Conquerors Haki. Plus Conquerors Haki doesn't induce Fear. It's limited Emphatic Manipulation not Fear Manipulation.

4: "Conquerors haki effects your emotions, right? He can haki her and she unfuses, now he just has two gems that cant fight back against him and he wins." Read above. Not gonna repeat myself. Conquerors Haki doesn't effect emotions like that.

5: "Garnet has been shown to be unstable with her fusion in cases of fear and shock, such as the episode where she started to unfuse because the effects of the gem mutants, she probably would have too if steven was not there." Again Conquerors Haki doesn't induce Fear into the opponent. 3rd time explaining that to you now.

6: "And no? Because people can still win without ap. It is called Dante vs Noctis, Noctis has higher ap and he lost." Because Dante had Hax to compensate. And again you damn well know this. Don't act oblivious. Same case with Zero. He has hax to rely on.

7: "A stomp matchup means you have absolutely no way to kill or maim your opponent. Whitebeard still can, even playing devils advocate, he bfrs her into the atmosphere or smashes her gem stone with a quake etc etc." Whitebeard has never BFRed anyone like that. Let's not start making up fake abilities for him.

8: "We dont have this arbitary 'low' 'mid' or 'high' tier." Dude what are you even talking about? Yes we do. Baseline, mid tiers and high end. ( Example: Nastu High 6-C = Baseline | Luffy High 6-C high tier | Tatsumaki High 6-C High end )

9: "I have seen characters win and lose in different tiers. In fact, there is still arguments for whitebeard, and if there is an argument for him, it is likely not unfair." No there isn't. Whitebeard literally cannot win this and I've already said why.
