Summary

Hey there, I learned awhile ago that my D&D session in a couple of days will likely be canceled since one of the players has a birthday. Fair enough, but I shall not let the day be wasted. Instead, I make an offer to you folks.

For the next few days, post a character in this thread. Post as many as you want, but I'll only pick one per person, and it would have to be something I find interesting enough to warrant a statblock. If it fits these criteria, I'll create a statblock for you to the best of my ability to represent that character in a real and actual 5th Edition D&D campaign, and post it here.

Rules
1. Infinite entries per user, but only one will actually be used- the others serve as back-ups if for whatever reason I don't use your first choice.

2. Nothing above Tier 3 for personal preferences.

3. I can choose to just not make the thing, it has to be interesting enough to make a statblock for. Other than that, I'm open to any genre and type of character. I may need some details on their main powers.

https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/The_Hunter_(Monster_Hunter)I am imagining some sorta Ranger, Fighter, Rouge mix but I curious as to what could be done with this. Maybe this could inspire my next character.
I'll very likely do this, since I already know the character. I'll probably have to choose an arbitrary set of gear for them though.

Zach Noveda- I mean I can, sure. If his powers don't have a 1:1 in D&D I can probably work something out.

Boogieman (Gorillaz)- Definitely can work with him.

Mario- I'd be a bit shocked if he wasn't already in D&D but sure.

Cole MacGrath- Can probably work something out with him. Elemental chaos type guy, maybe.

Legio- I can work with him. Frank Reynolds doesn't really work outside of a one time gag character.

Anne Mayer- What else did I expect? I can try to work with her.

Mikael Kreoss- Looks neat, should work for our purposes.

Shaggy Rogers (Cartoon)- no.

I'm more curious to see if any of these builds will actually be viable in D&D. Like, it's one thing to be accurate to the character, it's another for the build itself to be solid.

Well. Unless we make Mario an absolute monster stat wise, probably not. I wasn't planning on making character sheets and was more aiming for just normal statblocks, keep in mind.

In my opinion, Mario would either have to be super duper broken or pretty low tier depending on how much you give him/how true to source material you remain.

The hunter statblock
Formatting kinda sucks and I dunno how to fix that but here's a vastly simplified Hunter.

Boogieman
Used Blackstaff's for some lower level spells appropriate for them, summon construct doesn't exist but it would be to allow him to summon a fighter jet.

Innate spellcating that ain't charisma? Gey.
Wisdom is standard for devils, cretin.

I mean. It can work, I figure Red Dwarf is a verse made almost exclusively of Artificers.

I forgot that 5e was garbage for no reason and that 3.5e made more sense

I stick to my original statement and will say that Charisma is a new thing for innate spellcasting. 0/10.

I started with 3.5e, then played 2e, then 5e only just recently. I run two games and have been asked to join another that I'll probably give a trial run for. One of the many jarring factors from earlier editions is that... a lot of 5e stuff makes no sense in terms of lore and is mostly set for gameplay mechanics. Which is fine, it makes for a better game experience, I just dunno what they intend to mean by it.

One of such things is charisma being used for spellcasting in devils. Worst detail. 0/10.

I'm willing to play 3.5e, is just that I never saw someone else willing to play that game lol, nor I have knowledge on that edition, only have the player's handbook for 5e

I heard from a friedn who played all versions that 5e is the best gameplay wise, 2e and below is known to be super hard while 3.5e is weird

Why the charisma thing for devils sucks tho?

3.5e is... a lot harder to get into than 5e. For a starting player, just play 5e, honestly? Like a lot of the lore won't really match the game because of how streamlined it is, but it's much more palpable. If you had asked me how to play after, oh, say one year of 3.5e, I would only barely manage to tell you the basics and specifics of the game. There's still things I wouldn't be certain on. 5e is infinitely easier to comprehend and has a much smoother learning curve.

Charisma for devils just doesn't really make sense unless the lore of their magic was altered for whatever reason and nothing was made about it. Basically, charisma based magic is exclusive to sorcerers and similar classes, whereas wisdom based magic tends to be more of a divine thing. Devils and angels and demons are all just, for the most part, converted souls- souls are innately tied to the wisdom stat. Meaning there are two ties to wisdom (Souls being related heavily to the stat and the stat itself being largely of divine nature rather than mortal) and zero to charisma.

Thank you, Bambu. Now, we all know I should at least be CR 20, but I suppose I can accept a small nerf to keep me manageable for parties of all ages.
