remembered something i did years ago, well it was one of those You gain any superpower you choose, however the reply to your superpower is your only weakness. What power do you choose?

The power i chose was the ability to grant myself any ability of my choice

think of a weakness for that and i will see if i can't come up with a solution to bypass it

rules are i'm the one who designs the abilites so whatever options or descriptions i put in them are absolute and can't be tweaked or altered unless i'm the one doing it, also i get knowledge on the weakness and it would only activate after i use the ability, not before

like literally just make the ability one time use, the keep getting them until it works and just swap the probabilities or make the activation probability 100% like it's supposed to be, or just make it so the abilities come with a function so that they're guaranteed to work regardless of probabilites, or literally just passive always active luck enhancement ability that makes the probablity of positive events happening increase and negative ones decrease, there is way too many ways to get around this

hell, passive abilites fall in that category, they don't need to activate they're literally always active by design, but i can't for example say "make abilities that don't kill me" if the weakness was "each time you use your abilities you die"

So as in, instead of being either able to grant yourself multiple abilities or grant yourself any ability at any time and change abilities on the fly, you only get to choose one ability out of the potentially infinite choices and stay with that one choice permanently throughout?

Cause I think one weakness to granting yourself any one ability is the inability to maximise all the possible utilities/useful properties and applications of any one ability you choose due to limited knowledge on how to utilise said ability, and anyone else you encounter who has more skill at using that ability than you would overpower or outskill you.
(Unless you granted yourself all the knowledge of the ability AND the weakness and thus found ways to both maximise the potential of that ability and counter the weaknesses of that ability.)

Basically, either if you grant yourself the ability to choose any one ability and change abilities at any time (or worse, if you only get to choose one ability and stick with that) or if you grant yourself the ability to choose multiple abilities, you'd ultimately be a jack of all trades who is adaptable but whose individual abilities may not be as developed as those who specialise in those same abilities (unless you get only one ability to stick with permanently, in which case you need to specialise in that one ability and you are left vulnerable to abilities that specifically counter that ability).

My final answer might be this:
I could think of granting yourself omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence (at least giving the first would give the other two) on a limitless/infinite scale and thus gaining all abilities in one go, but then the only weaknesses to that is either:

• Anyone who specifically is stated or designed to be completely invincible/immune to/incapable of being harmed by absolutely everything.
• Having an omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent being/amalgamation of beings working on a limitless scale (either one being in limitless forms or a limitless quantity of beings working as one) already existing (like the gods of religions and mythologies).

Both could at best either stalemate you in both cases due to paradoxes, or, in the case of the limitlessly omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent being(s), erase you BEFORE you get to grant yourself limitless omnipotence, omniscience and omnipresence since they're stated to have existed before you.

i don't think you're seeing the full potential of being able to grant yourself literally any ability you desire, that's why it was fun to argue against potential weaknesses, till people started saying an omnipotent god erases you from existence you after you use it...., then i started being cheap and told them i will be omnipotent 2 lol

The abilities all have completely horrible outputs unless given to a person that could make better use of it first. If that person were to die by your hand or were to give back the ability Willingly, you can use the ability at a similar level of output and proficiency but cannot improve it in any way.

2: Technically omniscience does give you knowledge lel.

3: Yeah having a murderous improved clone of yourself is gonna be traumatising to deal with unless you can make peace with them and ask to learn from them (It's basically Homelander vs Black Noir in the comics or Emiya Shirou and Archer Shirou).

4: I did see the potential in terms of absolute versatility and adaptability/flexibility to deal with any situation, but I was noting potential flaws that came with that versatility (but that was also depending on how the ability to grant yourself abilities worked as we clarified in point 1 ^).

5: You might want to edit your starting/original post to add that condition of not being able to wish for that (assuming you're referring to limitless omnipotence/omniscience/omnipresence).

6: The issue with the clause/condition of the weakness only activating after you use your ability is how that could conflict with the limitlessly omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent being(s) already existing (paradoxes welp), but I could say that one way to bypass that condition is if the world in which you have the ability to grant abilities already has the divine being(s) with those powers/properties (religion and mythology welp) (but yeah again in the end if they only act against you AFTER you grant yourself those abilities then the only logical outcome is a paradox-inducing stalemate).

Weakness of any ability you choose is that the instant (literally instant as in Planck time) you start using the ability (unless you pull out omnipotence/omnipresence) it irreversibly (YOU CANNOT PREVENT OR ESCAPE THIS IN ANY WAY AT ALL) leads to automatically summoning and trapping EVERY VERSION OF YOU ACROSS EVERY TIMELINE AND VERSE (no matter how many there are, even if they are limitless) inside AN ABSOLUTELY INESCAPABLE, INDESTRUCTIBLE, POWER-NULLIFYING/ABILITY-NULLIFYING PRISON (imagine just solid opaque walls all around you with no other form of matter or energy inside, NOTHING EXCEPT YOU AND THE WALLS) where you will remain eternally for a limitless amount of time (NO MATTER WHATEVER FORM OF EXISTENCE YOU TAKE, and you CANNOT HAVE ANY REPLICATION/DUPLICATION OF ANY PART OF YOURSELF, TANGIBLE OR INTANGIBLE, or else such replications/duplications will be trapped in the prison with you).
