Sonic Boom (TV) works because joke and plot flows better

For starters, fire Pontac and Graff.

One thing I'd like to see from Sonic is moments of vulnerability, you know I like seeing Sonic overcome his obstacles but I'd also like to see moments that show that he's not the most powerful thing out there and so he needs his pals to help him

Being vulnerable has never been Sonic's character trait. He has gone on too many adventures and has become too established as the strongest character to be casually vulnerable.
The last time Sonic the Hedgehog was really vulnerable and really needed his friends in the Games was when he died.

Fair enough I suppose, Sonic has gotten to a point in his strength where he isn't really rivaled in strength anymore outside of Shadow or Silver or any new inventions that Eggman makes

Another reason why the OG writers need to return.
The current writers (pontac and graff) ruined Tails by reverting him back into his weak self even though in Sonic Adventure he discovers he can't always rely on Sonic to help him and that he CAN do things by himself if he just believes in himself. The final boss for Tails' story even proves it. And in Sonic Adventure 2 when he thinks Sonic is dead he doesn't just start crying like a pathetic little baby, he's angry and determined to avenge Sonic by defeating Robotnik.
But now Tails is just a pathetic and useless piece of shit who cant stand up for himself anymore.
