Well a laharl is missing stuff on his page. like his healing spells, de-buffs, soul munipulation but depending on is he can use gun skills on this site he would have a form of soul damage. If he can't then his soul munipulation would not help here.

And status effects. With Include Sleep,Poison,Charm,Amnisa, and Cursing. though he likely can't win even with those unless Al&Cal are able to put each other down, as Sleep would likely not last long enough to get a win.

No opinion on the match but if it's Soul Based regen he can get through it since pretty much anyone in Disgaea can destroy ghosts with their magic, which are basically incorporeal souls and nothing else:

"Spirits are the most mysterious type of demons in the Netherworld. Demon scholars now believe that they are spirits that failed to become prinnies, and exist in the form of wandering ghosts. They are known to be the most common type of monster, according to the last Netherworld Census."

Or when one of the Shinigamis out there was taking the Prinny souls so they could reincarnate in Celestia and Laharl got in the way.

That's an odd argument. If they can interact with disembodied souls they obviously can with Souls of someone they just physically killed and are waiting to regen.

If that helps though, the aforementioned Prinnies are basically the souls of humans reincarnated inside the Prinny Body and they clearly displayed that they can affect them with their attacks and magic.

Also Celestia and the Netherworld are literally where Human Souls go to when they die for better or worse. Demons and Angels interacting with souls is one of the most commonplace things in this verse.

5 days late but in Disgaea 3 absense of detention the ghost state they are tangable beings.

Don't know if that changes anythinf but just thought I'd mention it.

That might just be one of the inconsistent things about the verse. Since most of the games just call them souls, or weak spirits. Though the power to damage souls with both physical attacks, and magic seems to be common in the verse anyway.
