Higher-Dimensional Physical Characteristics

Kep you can't apply what physicist claim as being the fifth dimension to a system attempting to properly guage all fictional cosmologies using the same model. We don't know what the fifth dimension is, if it's even temporal and we certainly can't apply that to fiction. Unless you're saying Mr. Mxy applies? He's 5-dimensional.

@Ant As the Speed page says, two or more time dimensions qualifies for Immeasurable.
I think that we got rid of that definition quite some time ago.

In addition, most fiction treats higher dimensions as spatial ones, not temporal, and, to use 5-D as an example, "(d1^2 + d2^2 + d3^2 + d4^2 + d5^2)/t = v" does not imply immeasurable or even infinite speed. We need specific evidence for immeasurable speed to apply it.

In any case, I am about to fall over from exhaustion, and still have lots of work to do, so I cannot extensively argue here on top of that.

@Sera

Grant Morrison actually did treat the 4th and 5th dimensions that Mxyzptlk and his species move through as time and hypertime, but that is likely an exception rather than a rule.

Gotcha. Anyway we can keep that debate on hold for now. I'm also too tired to debate, especially with someone as knowledgeable as Kep lol.

For now let's focus on who is going to write the pages and update the 1-A pages. If you guys want me to, I can certainly deliver but an admin will still need to update the 1-A profiles. The others will have to be updated as time progresses.

Ant, if you got rid of that definition then update the page to get rid of it. I'm going by both our system and what some physicists have to say on the matter.

Well, somebody needs to write both higher-dimensional existence and beyond-dimensional existence pages. However, maybe the latter could copy part of its explanation from the Outerverse page, and the former a simplified summary of the Dimensional Tiering page.

@Kepekley

I just checked the Speed page, and did not notice a mention of multiple temporal dimensions, but I am currently very tired, so I may have overlooked it.

@Ant

Immeasurable (Movement beyond linear time. This is why the speed cannot be measured. Given that S = D/T, if T is undefined the speed formula cannot be applied. This is the same reason why multiple temporal dimensions also grant immeasurable speed.

@Kepekley

Okay. Thanks.

@Sera

Would you be fine with getting rid of the bolded definition text that Kepekley quoted, or is it accurate?

@Kep

That's what Ant meant, he's saying being higher-dimensional (based solely on spatial dimensions) =/= immeasurable but having multiple temporal dimensions qualifies. However 5-Ds still aren't auto-immeasurable because the fifth dimension is treated as a spatial dimension in almost every instance barring D.C. with Mr. Mxy and Hypertime. This was discussed between Ant, Matt, myself, DontTalk, Ven, and The Living Tribunal1.

@Sera

Problem is, I explicitly specified temporal (not spatial) dimensions in my original post quoted by him unless I missed something.

Well, I am far too tired to be reliable right now. It is possible that multiple temporal dimensions qualify, and I simply cannot remember at the moment. That is why I asked Sera.

There's a minor misunderstanding somewhere.

Well, all that I know for certain is that mathematically, a multitude of spatial dimensions do not automatically grant immeasurable speed.

@Light

Ant posted why above. It's a complex explanation I can't go into detail about right now.

Why wouldn't it? Movement within a higher dimension means you're crossing distances unfathomable to beings moving in lesser dimensions.
because root(d1^2+d2^2+d3^2+d4^2+d5^2+d6^2+d7^2+d8^2+d9^2+d10^2+[...]+dn^2)= x meters. our 3-d universe may be inclined at 70┬░ in a 4-d universe and we would be moving in 4-d space all the time for what we know.

I'm in the process of writing both pages by the way.

Great, next one will be put up in a minute.

Should we make a thread to add this ability to locked profiles of higher D beings?
I'll make one in a minute.
