God of War: Ragnarok Discussion Thread

Found it finally, where Mimir warns Kratos to stay in control of his rage and not **** it up like he did with Heimdall.

Like, deadass don't understand how people can use that journal reference for anything beyond GOW3 BoG Kratos who had folded Poseidon and Hades, especially with even Bruno stating that he thought the final fight was a stalemate, but of course, we both know the games, Eric Williams, the official GOW2018 Page and even the novels have something else to say. And people still keep shouting Old Kratos > Young Kratos when that is simply not the case.

Let's go through the basics.

Cory and Bruno saying one time that Old Kratos is stronger because parental love BS?

The official Sony Blog Page for GOW2018 cleanly debunks this, stating that Kratos will merely eventually reawaken his dormant powers over the course of GoW2018.
latest

The official GOW Comic-Con 2018 interview with Cory Barlog also says the same, Kratos is holding back massively on his true power (6:57).
latest

In an official documentary blog about Baldur's first fight, the devs straight up say that they planned to have Kratos shatter a mountain in that scene, but they didn't, as they considered Kratos to be too rusty at that time.
latest

Cory himself reiterates that same exact statement yet again in another Director's Commentary (9:38).

And even Eric Williams himself repeats the same exact words in yet another recent interview: Kratos had been massively rusty for the duration of 2018, but in the three years right as Ragnarok begins, Kratos has trained hard and has shaken off that rust to get back to the top of his game. (2:00)

Not only that, the GOW2018 Novel (Chapter 48) straight up states that Young Kratos was a lot more muscular than his Old Kratos self.
latest

Now I know, Kratos has stated in Ragnarok that his true strength does not come from his body, but both are honed by his discipline, but then you can sort of realize that he not only slacked out on physical training, but also slacked out on disciplining his true power over the years, causing his powers to go dormant over time, 2018 forces him to come out of retirement. His training affects all his capabilities, not just his brute-force physical strength.

i swear when people be saying old kratos stomps young kratos i be wanting to throw hands
If anything, the evidence I just posted above only shows that Kratos is equal to his GoW3 Endgame Pre-Hope self ONLY WHEN GOING ALL OUT. That strength is called dormant for a reason. The Journal Entry only hammers it down further and is the only reason why Norse has any chance at all to scale to Greek stuff outside of Bruno stating Thor to be able to easily hold his own against Poseidon's Hippocamps.

Have you guys come across any good fodder feats while reading the Novels and guides?
Unfortunately, the novel doesn't. Fodder enemies and gods alike don't even last five seconds against Kratos. Magni gets one-shot by Kratos, and the Mattugr Helson fight doesn't fare any better. The novel is basically Kratos on a killing spree 360-no-scoping everything he sees in sight.

Well what about the GOW 1 & 2 Novels?

Some of the fights are a bit too dramatized for the sake of being dramatized, though in GOW2 feats that people may perceive to be anti-feats, kind of aren't, because Kratos was massively weakened by the power/life-force drain in the invasion of Rhodes.

The GOW3 guide Mentions the Cyclopes fighting Zeus right?
I already mentioned that being a thing, aye.

Lol didn’t some guy try to downgrade the verse here with that?

Yes, A key plot point lol. You gotta be crazy to overlook that in order to downplay.

So maybe a 7-B to 2-C rating? There's also a scan saying they're strong enough to build mount Olympus, which should net them Class T LS I assume?
Kratos is slower than speed of sound.
Based.

So if we go by the last spartan surviving an Building explosion, The fodder enemies like Undead legionnaires, and Fate sentries should scale to that, Satyrs scale higher and minotaurs above them too.

I think Cerberus should be Tier 2, or at least the lava one that can shoot Mimi bijudamas in GOW 3.

As for Fodder like Draugr, don't they have a 9-A feat?

so the new cope about Surtur's feat is that he stabbed in Asgard's heat and caused a chain reaction, people never learn

He saw through The Green Rift and gained infinite knowledge.
quora ones are worse, seriosly everything is either wall level """"lame fodder"""" or boundless/outversal in that place
where is in-game statement that they could not break asgards wall ???
didn't read the full thread due to the toxicity/passive aggression of the debate and frankly felt like everyone anti GOW ganging on the one pro GOW debater.

here is the thread , dunno if that dude posted proof Surtur needed to stab the heart or something of the realm or something , if anyone is intrigued they can check himself

ANOTHER beautiful masterpiece I was given from people who kept up with the thread was.................someone argued that Thor's strike to Jormungandarr didn't do much other then causing air distortion and that air distortion sent Jormungandarr hundreds of years back in time.

What kind of peak clownery is this.

See, this is why we don't take ComicVine or CharacterRant seriously. It's the ******* ego that stems from these guys that prove too chaotic to manage without them doing something heinous once every five minutes transcending all logic and what have you.

Okay so apparently garm can eat seasons similar to winter spring summer and autumn
Any idea what hax is this?

wdym? this is the greatest debate of all time

when you have a guy claiming that using the only canon explaination of Jormungandarr being sent back in time ( Mimir's 2018 statement ) because there is literally NOTHING making that explaination wrong......is an appeal to ignorance.

not ignoring a canon statement and a canon explaination for an on screen event because there is no reason to ignore it , is APPEAL TO IGNORANCE FALLACY

that alone makes it the greatest debater to ever occur between two humans.
