I think Kars can underSTAND, but am not sure.

GER exists in the novel, but the rules there are different, so I don't know if Kars can resist the 0 null.

Anything any of Kars' Stands try to pull is instantly nulled. Saying Kars can evolve from this is pretty doubtful, considering GER has a mind of its own and probably won't leave Giorno. That being said, GER probably incaps.

How would this work?

Like, GER can zero reset Kars's attempts at understanding it, but because he's using Zero Reset Kars should be able to understand it, so they're basically blocked into an infinite loop where GER zero resets Kars's attempts of Understanding, but Kars tries to understand the Zero Reset after that.

I mean, couldn't Kars just try to understand, get subjected to Zero Reset indefinitely, get irritated and use BtD or D4CU to leave the universe/travel to the past so he can understand in peace?

Maybe, attempts to use D4CU may be reset, but KQ's BtD is involuntary and not hostile to Giorno, so it could work?

He's understanding with the hostile intent of using it against Giorno. Hence reset. Time erase isn't inherently harmful too, still got reset.

No, Kars doesn't even see humans as anything but ants. His understanding isn't hostile at all, it's purely for knowledge and self advancement as his right as the Ultimate Lifeform.
