General Godzilla Discussion

Yeah and that's where Goji beat his ass where Dormammu is at his strongest.

Not saying it isn't, I'm just saying Marvel Goji is solidly full on 1-A.
My comment wasn’t meant as a direct reply to you, I was just pointing out that Low 1-A is still a very solid tier, especially considering how controversial things could get with Marvel fans if Godzilla actually beat Dormammu in the Dark Dimension.

I don't think anyone he beat scales to that tho. It was either Low 1-C peeps or 1-A peeps

The Low 1-C tier no longer exists in Marvel scaling. I know this because I downgraded most Marvel comic characters from Low 1-C directly to High 3-A (Godzilla and Hulk included).

The Low 1-A tier in the Marvel Universe generally includes Skyfathers at their peak, Hell-Lords at their peak, and Dormammu outside of his own realm (while within his realm, he would be “Low 1-A, up to 1-A,” with the same applying to Umar and Clea).

It also includes Celestials in their First Key and Watchers, supported by the fact that Celestials scale above Skyfathers and that Watchers exist on transfinite levels of reality, with Celestials being at least comparable to them.

Additionally, this tier would apply to anyone who scales to the above without relying on external factors or special conditions (such as Doctor Doom with preparation). As seen in GDTMU, Godzilla was portrayed as superior to Dormammu outside of his realm, which would qualify for Low 1-A, if I’m not mistaken.

That wasn’t “peak Hulk,” although he was stronger than usual due to being amplified by Pym Particles and scaled up to Godzilla size.
Hulk is pratically unscalable since he always varies in power due to rage or holding back. The others he fought are all low 1-A, the only 1-A thing for now is him shaking the universe while being in the Astral Plane, at least I think it could be a 1-A feat

Why am I only now finding out about this panel?

They got him looking like Yamcha.

I have a theory that Minus One Godzilla may possess a Zenkai-like ability. If his body is destroyed, he reforms larger and stronger, meaning he couldn’t be defeated again in the same way.

last year i decided that i'll spend a part of this year watching Godzilla stuff and learning more about him, because his figure reeeeeeeally interests me, design-wise

Where should i start/which line should i follow? in 2024 i watched 3 Singular Point episodes and, IMO, it was really boring, so please not that one

If you’re thinking of getting into it casually, I’d recommend starting with the MonsterVerse movies since they’re pretty accessible and modern. A good order would be:

  • Godzilla (2014)
  • Kong: Skull Island
  • Godzilla: King of the Monsters
  • Godzilla vs. Kong
  • Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

They’re easy to follow, have a lot of spectacle, and give you a good feel for why people enjoy kaiju content without needing any prior knowledge.

If you end up liking those, you can always branch out into the older films later. In that case, I can give you another list, but for now, those are a great place to start 👍

noted, will probably give tiny reviews whenever i watch those

thank you

Godzilla (1998)
Shin Godzilla
Godzilla Minus One

i'll assume this one is the 2016 movie and will note those too

thank you for the time
My recommendations are

Godzilla (1954) as that's the og, the real one
Godzilla (2014) for the spectacle
Godzilla -1.0 for peak

The rest you choose yourself as you can either continue Monsterverse as recommended by Apex or do something else.

Godzilla Singular Point is of the hard sci-fi genre so it's definitely not something everyone can get into, it's a lot more sciency.

By the way, I noticed you’ve used some of my Godzilla calculations in your powerscaling videos, so I’d appreciate it if you could credit my work when you do. Also, please don’t forget to credit other VSBW users’ calculations as well.
Yeah sure the problem is I rarely ever know who makes the calculation when I find them

The Kiryu Saga (Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Godzilla Tokyo SOS) have some of the best characters as well as monster action in the series so I would suggest these. If you just want kaiju action, Final Wars is a really fun one as well but very light on plot. Apex’s suggestions are also very good, as are Arceus0x’s.

Mostly a friend gives it to me or I find someone else using it i do tend to read the blog it's from when I can
best to try and find the og. You can find the og by typing out the beginning of the calc (the text) and seeing what comes up on google.

I agree with Arceus0x. Also, if you know any of your friends who are using my calculations in their posts or YouTube videos, I’d appreciate it if they could credit my work as well as the work of other VSBW users.

Other than the MV you should definitely watch 1954 (subbed) and Minus 1. Other than those two, I would say Godzilla 2000 is a good starting point (I may be biased cuz that was the first Toho Godzilla I watched). I saw it on hulu a couple years back but I don’t think it’s on there anymore.

If you are into physical media there is a full set of all of all 15 showa era films (1954-1975) from the Criterion Collection that comes with a cool book with illustrations, and bonus content on the discs (including the original english versions of Godzilla: King of the Monsters! and King Kong vs Godzilla). It’s like at least $150 so you might not want to start with all of that tho.

Unfortunately for Westerners (IDK if this is different in Japan but I’m gonna assume so), most of the older films aren’t on big streaming services, so you’ll probably have to scrounge around amazon or smth for discs, or do some renting and buying from stuff like Prime Video or Apple TV (if you want to do it legally, ofc there’s always piracy, but these are a lot better on actual TVs with big screens, and pirating them on those is more complicated than computers/phones).

Also whatever you do PLEASE do not start with the Godzilla Earth anime trilogy of movies, they are not good.
