General Godzilla Discussion

In my country (Brazil), outside of the US-made movies and modern movies, we only got dubs for 2000, Vs. Biollante, Vs. King Ghidorah and Vs. Mothra. I'm not aware of DVD releases but you can find the dubs online. Strangely enough, when i search the name of the movies it appears translated titles for them, so i have no idea if they got now lost-media dubs
Oh, I didn’t even know you were Brazilian! That’s interesting. Thanks for the info; it’s surprising that only those specific movies got dubs. The translated titles showing up is pretty curious too; it does make you wonder if there were older releases that ended up becoming lost media.

Ok so it seems like we also got a dub for Vs. Megalon and apparently Vs. King Kong and other Showa movies. The problem is that they were aired rarily on free channels during the 70s and 80s and got no DVD releases. Only Vs. Megalon was archived apparently

That makes sense. If they only aired briefly on TV with no DVD releases, it’s not surprising most became lost media. At least Vs. Megalon was preserved.

By the way, I’m sorry if it seemed like I was trying to argue against you about War in Space being canon; that really wasn’t my intention. If I could personally prove the film is canon, I’d be the first to make an upgrade thread myself. I was just trying to guide you based on my experience with Godzilla discussions. In the end, they would’ve asked for those proofs in a thread anyway, since people tend to be pretty strict with Godzilla topics.

It’s funny; I mentioned the idea of a Godzilla × Sonic crossover long before it was announced, so seeing it actually happen felt like a nice prediction.

In all honesty? Godzilla's not too outlandish from the enemies that Sonic has faced in the past. Like when compared to Perfect Chaos, the Biolizard, and Dark Gaia, I imagine that Sonic and co would be pretty unfazed by a giant monster destroying everything. Of course I assume that the crossover is going to make Godzilla a massively powerful threat, but still.

Also the only thing I'm hoping for from this crossover is a climatic final showdown between Super Sonic and Godzilla, I need to see Sonic spin dash Godzilla into a mountain or something ******* awesome like that.

Ok so now we have yet another crossover where fans of one series get upset because their powerscaling isn’t respected by the writers (as if it ever is or has been).

That’s fair, but something similar happened with Marvel and DC; many heroes and villains initially dismissed Godzilla as just a giant lizard, and he ended up completely overpowering them. So even for characters used to massive threats, Godzilla tends to surprise people with how overwhelming he actually is.

B-but my powerscaling…

I think there’s some confusion between size and actual power. Even ignoring size, the GodzillaVerse is generally portrayed as far more powerful than most Sonic threats, so the danger comes from sheer power, not just being a giant monster.

Hence why I said that the crossover will make Godzilla a massively powerful threat. I was more so referring to how kaiju sized enemies are pretty standard for Sonic and co to encounter.

And speaking as the guy with a Sonic pfp: screw the power scaling. As long as the comic has a panel of Super Sonic and Godzilla duking it out directly, why does it matter if Godzilla is massively buffed in the crossover? It's all fun, just like seeing Godzilla overpower droves of heroes and villains in the DC and Marvel crossovers.

It’s interesting that in crossovers with other Japanese franchises, characters rarely underestimate Godzilla, since they’re usually already aware of how dangerous and powerful he is.

Dumb question but I can't tell: based off the art we've gotten of the comic, is MechaGodzilla's design based off his Showa incarnation or Heisei incarnation?

Now I want to see a meme of characters getting wiped by Godzilla as a powerscaler tries to assure them that they scale way higher so there is nothing to fear.

Are there people out there that genuinely get that upset and bothered when a crossover doesn't scale their character as high as they scale them? Because from my perspective: unless it's stated to be official, most crossovers are non canon and have no bearing on the official series.

Like if Godzilla ends up overpowering Sonic in this comic, it's not going to upset me because A) Godzilla's always portrayed as dominating his foes and B) it's a non canon crossover, so the author's going to be allowed it how he wants.

They absolutely do. Powerscalers lost their mind with the marvel and dc crossovers, even though the former was explicitly stated to be canon multiple times. The copium flows to this day.

Does anyone have a scan we can replace for the 5x times multipler for Showa Mechagodzilla II? Because the current scans proves nothing

While I don’t have a direct scan of the exact page at the moment, I have added a Toho Kingdom scan confirming the 5× multiplier, along with references from two separate books that support the same information.

the individuals who have been accurately leaking MV plots since 2018 are saying that Spacegodzilla, Planet Titan, and Kong’s exosuit are all real.
It’s funny how Kong keeps having to get power ups in the form of items for him to keep up.

Just going off vibes, no powerscaling,

Who do y'all think wins between every film incarnation of Goji
Just going off vibes, Final Wars or Earth. Both ‘feel’ like the strongest Godzilla’s whether they are or not. Monsterverse is kinda getting up there though due to New Empire and GVK giving him crazy showings that no other film Goji has done (such as shooting a hole to the Hollow Earth). Even before these films, he was fighting a version of King Ghidorah who was casually destroying the world and also melting buildings with his mere presence in Burning mode.

Depends on if you count Earth as a film goji. If you only count live action films it’s probably final wars. The whole point was that only one monster was able to actually fight him properly.

Yeah, I remember that blog; it was shared in the Death Battle General Discussion thread when Godzilla vs. Hulk was a major topic. However, Arceus0x read and analyzed it, and he didn’t indicate that it would warrant any new upgrades for Ultima.
I dunno, I see some hax there not on Ultima's profile (like concept hax).
