On Gaara's profile it is mentioned that he has ' High Hypersonic reaction and attack speed ' for apparently reacting to an explosion at point-blank range as calced here.

The issue with this is just that Gaara doesn't have conscious control of his sand for this feat. It is an automatic defense as seen when his sand protected him without Gaara even being aware of a threat.

Since the sand moved as fast as it did in the calc, the calc should be fine for his Attack Speed, but not his Reaction speed.

So I'd suggest removed the reference to his reactions for that key.

Right, so the sand's automatic defense should still be that fast but Gaara's reactions are clearly shown to be slower, as you said with the case of him failing to react to Rock Lee's attacks.

Gaara's reaction should remain the same. But his sand is faster, just this.

Why would Gaara's reaction remain the same? He isn't shown reacting the explosion. Your calc is just for the speed of the sand's automatic defense.

From the sound of it, his profile should be something more like:

Speed: High Hypersonic (Fought ____ who can move this fast, his sand can move this fast)

I always think that while the sand is that fast, Gaara wasn't so I think this makes sense. This is legit since Lee blitzed the sand and Gaara at the same time.

I'm fine with Gaara's sand being faster then himself but his reactions should scale based on fighting Lee and Sasuke.
