Fictional combat skill, VSB and You; Giving Skill a concrete form

Its new year, I will come back to this in the near future, so heads up Armor

How you gonna banish me from these realms? Me of all people. Come on this is skill for god's sake. This is where i belong.

The state of Combat skill on this wiki depresses me, I should stop being lazy and get this done...

Earl.

Skill debates are dead, now it's just a bunch of China-man novel infinite Skill bullshit. Nobody wants to have a REAL Skill debate nowadays, they just go with whatever sounds cooler on paper.

This wiki needs to go back to the year 2017 where we didn't meat ride skill to LITERAL infinite levels.

But I dont want us to regress back into centuries of combat experience, soloing armies and knowing every martial arts on the planet^tm...

Insert I can dodge 100k arrows all faster than me from all directions without getting hit while having limited space

Insert I can outpredict someone who sees all of the future

Insert I can beat a 3-A while being tier 9 with a normal stick via skill.

Istg Yu solos these mfs.

The chinamen were around back then too. But we had ppl debate the actual skill for them not the flowery infinite bullshit.

Look man all im saying, back in my day this wouldn't happen. All the infinite fellas, the chinamen, the fate gang, they all knew their place. Y'all kinda let skill debates fall off like this. We didn't need rules back then cus we could argue why having trained for infinite years doesn't mean shit. Or why soloing 4000 armies with a pillow doesn't say anything. Or even why beating someone much superior to yourself in stats doesn't say anything.

We used to value context and direct feats none of this man. Look first witch even made a whole thread arguing why we need to go back to my way of doing things. Somebody tried to do the same back in the day and I have the same stance now as I had back then. We don't need this. It is very easy to argue why somethings aren't skill or aren't quantifiable, and in such a case we can just argue that stuff, we don't need rules in place, sometimes we just need to enjoy the arguing process (cus it is a debating site).

So what im getting at here is....y'all fumbled real bad.

PS: I was reading the thread and it's mad funny that somebody said "i agree with this anything to kill the ikki skill chains" which is funny cus these rules were the reason Ikki was #1.

Thats cool and all, but do you plan to help out or yap on the sidelines?

Help out with what? You know i agree with (i think) all of this. (i ain't reading all that but in general seems about what i used to argue for back in the day).

The question here FW is why do we need rules for this? Can't you just argue skill out?

The actual nerve on this man

Because son, VSB changed. Rules and standards are way more enforced right now. And I frankly dont want to have a whole ass debate everytime skill comes up, with the initial 20 posts being dedicated to yapping about what skill actually is. This is quite frankly not for some skill threads, but for the wiki as a whole. Skill has been a integral part of a good amount of versus threads nowadays (Because people love their 9-B deliquent/assassin/gangster series) and it irks me to see how matches are concluded with shit like "muh 20 martial arts" or "muh combat experience". Not enough to make me step into those threads, but it irks me nontheless. And if shit irks me, I try (and fail) to change it.

So I ask you again. Wanna help? Or should I put you down as not interested and move on with my life.

Man cooked, but no one was hungry 😔

Anyways, Jin Mu Won (Pre-nerf/Split) VS Sion will stay as the peak of all Skill matches, and that's a hill I'll die on.

Help with what? Be more specific.
Its literally in the OP, why are you so daaaaaft
The draft is incomplete in that it hasnt all necessary sections filled out, but it wont be getting any major inclusions from my side. It is in its outline complete. Unless someone brings up a enlighting point to add (I'm serious, I am not infalliable after all). I plan to finish this with the communities input in general. Voice your opinions, argue with me, pat me on the back or call me a doodoo head, your opinion is requested.

TBH given that combat stuff isn't going to be usable for intelligence ratings in the future (from the looks of that one CRT), instead merely listing the feats and so on, I feel this is a waste of effort nowadays.

The avenue to rate skill on the profiles is closed for now, but this thread aint about that. This is (trying) establishing from 0 what skill is.
