Dr. Bright vs Yang Xiao Long

@Garg Its already been well established that Adam destroyed her aura with that attack as it was low to begin with, same with Yang.

@Wok 963 needs to make physical contact with the target in order to work, something that cannot happen if the opponent has a full body forcefield

And yet she used her semblance to escape, which uses aura

If it was broken, she wouldn't be able to use it

@Garg What? People can still use their semblance when their aura is down, Qrow did it and Yang did it. iirc Weiss did too.

For example, in Destiny, if there's a contact based ability uninhibited by your armor, it's also not going to be stopped by your (base) shields. This would seem to make more sense than assume arbitrary resistances based on hypothetical scenarios that cannot be proven.

@Wok Youre correct, there is no proof that 963 can bypass a forcefield, therefore there is no reason to assume it would here.

Ok buy you still haven't explained why forcefields are so special as opposed to literally anything else that blocks things. If 963's effectiveness is hampered by armor or clothes then sure, but if it isn't I don't see why armor with a fancy name should work.

@Garg World of Remnant never says Semblance needs aura to work. Yang used her semblance after an ursa destroyed her aura, Weiss was still using glyphs after Vernal destroyed her aura, and Qrow's semblance is quite literally passive

@Wok Because armor is a physical object, whereas a forcefield isnt something physical, its a force that blocks things

Weekly that definition sounds very physical

"A warrior can also use his aura in a different manner. Semblance"

The WoR blatantly says that.

Which very much explains why Emeralds Aura went down to 95 after she uses her semblance to trick Coco https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=41QtMwuZVcM

When the actual show tells you something officially, any contradictions should be considered an inconsistency

Tell that to a lot of fiction

Still sounds functionally identical

That also imolies that he can just push harder than the forcefield can and touch her

My post shows an example within the show of Aura being drained after Emerald using it, unless she got magically hit off screen.

And take the quote into account when Salem says "Utilize their aura"

Semblance is meant to use Aura, the show tells you and shows you

You are literally calling the Workd of Remnant, a show that is made by rooster teeth to explain RWBY, speculation

A forcefield not being an object also contradicts the idea that these auras can be broken or shattered.

Kinda does though. You can't really break a force.

World of Remnant never said that you need aura to use semblances, ive watched the video three times now and not once does it say that

"A warrior can also use his aura in a different manner. Semblance"

The WoR blatantly says that.

1:25 specifically

Explain where it says that they need aura to use their semblance because what youre quoting does not in any way state that

Could somebody sum up the reasons for both sides?
Bright:

> Gun that fires raditation and gives crippling cancer immediatly

> Pendant which can (arguably) allow him to possess Yang and overright her mind/soul with his own if he can trick her into touching it, which isn't really that hard if she's trying to punch him.

Yang:

> Much more combat-savvy

> Can outrange Bright if she wanted to, although it's mroe in-character for her to close distance and go for a punch-out.

Most people here think Bright takes this due to either firing radiation that Yang can't properly dodge as she closes in on him, or, if she somehow avoids it, him either moving into a position where she punches his amulet or slapping her with it in order to instantly possess/overright her mind.
