Fight takes place in a moon research base designed to study alien life. A new form of microbial life was found supended in the antartic ice on earth and samples have been sent up, along with 6 scientists, to determin exactly how old it is and what it may be. Things were fine for about a week, until a strange message was sent from the base asking for military asistance. The message was cut short, but the scientist in the message didn't seem too bothered, just odd. Based on this limited knowledge the Doomguy has been sent up, alone, to sort this shit out. Upon ariving at the base, Doomguy is accosted by a histerical female scientist claiming that "It" got everyone else and that they need to leave now and blow up the base from orbit. Before Doomguy can even say anything though, three more scientists run out of a nearby hall yelling "Don't let her touch you! It only needs a single touch and you're one of them!" And now it begins.

Doomguy's mission is to wipe out all traces of alien life from the moon base by any means possible. Berserk Sphere and the BFG are resicted, but otherwise Doomguy has all his other weapons with unlimited ammo. aka 9-B Doomguy with 9-C to 9-A weapons.

The Thing must either assimilate or kill Doomguy and make it to Earth. At least four scientists are fully assimilated by the time Doomguy makes it there.

Speed Equalized

The Thing

Doomguy

My vote's for doom guy. He has superior speed, experience, and his rockets and plasma gun would give him a range and heat advantage.

I can't belive I forgot to equalize speed. Depending on what assimilated experience could be a non-factor. Your other points are valid though so I'll still count ya.

Doom - 1

Thing - 0

Does Doomguy's armor cover his entire body as shown in a pic? Or is the first version of him?

Good. Is better this way. But yeah, Doomguy's experience and arsenal gives him the victory here.

At a glance, plasma gun seems like easily the most helpful weapon to use. Doomguy's no stranger to not getting hit, look at his durability compared to what he's killed, and with him being expressely told so here that only helps him more. Going Doomguy, though idk if you can restrict powerups that aren't quad damage or berserk.

>Prior knowledge

This pretty much hands Doomguy the W. He has the exact right weapons (9-A rocket launcher and 9-A plasma rifle) to waste the Thing to the point that it can't come back, and even in his Classic key, he's fought things that are far more mobile than the Thing has shown to be.

Not a stomp, but a fairly low-diff win imo.

It's 9-A with Durability Negation vs. 8-C durability. Any skin to skin contact is death for Doomguy. Sorry, thought the 9-A you meant was the Thing. The Things Druability actually depends on how much mass it has.

Yeah, the Thing's dura isn't just hardline 8-C. I remember the movie making it clear that it needs to gain mass before it can take that much damage, and (IIRC) the opposite is true in that it loses mass once it starts taking significant damage from things.

Of course, I haven't seen that movie in some years, so I'm probably getting some of the details wrong in my head. If so, disregard them.

No that's pretty much spot on. Think of 8-C as a currently displayed maximum. Both AP and durability vary wildly depending on how much has been assimilated and what forms it currently takes. And yeah, signifigant damage for the Thing would result in mass loss and therefore a stat drop.
