It's fine for me, there's also the inner potential that it can reach Omegamon's power level or surpass it at that time.

Proof? Because by on-screen showings Imperialdramon and his FM are pretty much big weaklings. And yeah his Bo-1j card may say he has power rivalling that of gods but a) that is very obscure and we don't know what's meant specifically by "gods" 2) just because he used Qinglongmon's power to evolve it doesn't mean he is just as powerful as him and 3) basic DRB hyperbole. By on-screen showings wich are more important than lore dumps and whatever the writter says Imperialdramon and his forms besides PM are weaker than Wargreymon.

There is no proof that the "rival the gods" part talks about the Sacred Beasts.And just because Paildramon used Qinglongmon's power to evolve(not even the full power of a single Digicore) it doesn't mean that he is as powerful as Qinglongmon himself. And also last but not least that part about saving the Digital World can't be attributed to 02 Imperialdramon. All in all this upgrade to Imperialdramon is redundant.

Not really, he can scale to Black WarGreymon as seen in figure art comic of 02. Who directly scales to Holy Beasts and WarGreymon (Who scales to Dark Masters, we'll explain that in future reworked profile as said here) and was ending all worlds and stuff with his distortions.
Also Dragon Mode in 02 era was said to be comparable to WarGreymon which is consistent with comics.
Btw, it's talking about holy beasts going by context of that time.

DM got his data destroyed by a Perfect and no it doesn't matter that it was hax.

The said perfect has lots of 1-C feats and directly scales to top tiers. Also, hax doesn't cares about stats, we had Salamon paralyzing Machinedramon in Tri with its hax.

FM and 2 Perfects could barely hold their own against Daemon who in some promotional material is revealed to be the Daemon from V-Tamers 01 and went on to get manhandled by Belialvamdemon.

Who scales far higher than old holy beasts, yes.

And last but not least got swatted by Alphamon. All in all Imperialdramon is a pretty weak character by on screen showings.

Not really. We never saw how 02 got kidnapped on screen. Also all his losses are against characters who are far above him.

So what was the point in upgrading him?.

Hey, he has less losses than Holy Beasts, Leomon and Millenniummon.

I should also add that this is a upgrade for the Imperialdramon "species", not just 02 one.

Potential =/= Power.
Also, Omegamon was made stronger later. So now FM isn't as strong as him.
Also going by his "potential" he actually surpasses Omegamon as PM.

because tri scaling always makes sense and we use it outside the show itself and accept that omega is stronger than alpha right?
