Digimon Discussion Thread V-Mon Edition

@Reppu

Did you see my comment regarding the Warrior Ten? Do you approve of a Revision thread for them?

So we'd remove the Databook Lucemon tab and bump up the Ancient Digimon to 3-C?

Sounds fine for the most part, given that we have concrete evidence.

Close. We would merge the Databook and Frontier Lucemon tabs into just one Lucemon tab. Ancient Digimon would be 2-C. Now this is a big jump from 3-C. Reason being. Databook Lucemon's power is spread amongst the 3 Great Angels, who in Seraphimon and Ophanimon's cases should be on par with their SGDL counterparts. However, Frontier has shown multiple times to coincide with the official databook. As such this Lucemon from the Databook and the one from Frontier is one in the same.

Who this scales to.

-Warrior Ten

-Their Full inheritors (Aldamon, RhinoKabuterimon etc)

-EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon who are above the Full inheritors.

-Frontier Royal Knights. (This would just make those versions Databook Knights)

Now, it is implied that while they fought, 8 of the Warrior Ten died to Lucemon. As such, the 8 other members should be "At least Low 2-C, possibly 2-C" while AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon should be solid "2-C" due to being the only ones strong enough to keep up with Lucemon for a bit and seal him. EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon would be around Royal Knight level.

No one else would scale. Any Digimon who was shown to keep up with these guys would not scale and it would be deemed an outlier for them.

I want this to go through you before I do anything.

What are your unpopular opinions about Digimon? For me:

Sorato>Taiora

Adventure/02 and Tamers are the worst seasons

I like Meiko

Pokemon>>Digimon in terms of anime, Digimon>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pokemon in terms of games

@Zeed

What makes Tamer bad in your eyes? Just curious.

Also, what makes you more interested in the Pokemon anime over the Digimon anime?

But drsgon, you literally killed the outlier of them surviving a fight with Lucemon. So you just considered it not to be an outlier because reasons.

Meh, I just really don't like the changes made in practically every season except for Frontier. (i.e. making evolution work like Mega Evolution, having Digimon bleed, making wild Digimon near non-existent, excluding a lot of mechanics, not even mentioning God, etc.)

I don't dislike Meiko as a character, I dislike what they're doing with her. I get the feeling the writers don't know what to do with her, which is why her arc has been all over the place. I also just want some time to get to know her as a character, instead she just gets thrown into a hellish situation without the audience really seeing what she's like. That's one of the reasons why I think Tamers was so great, we get to know Takato and Jeri, what they're like, their home life and their social life before the darker moments of their lives.

I don't really like Taiora personally. I never got the impression they were supposed to be romantically involved with one another, just really close friends.

I also like how Ken and Yolei got together. I think it's cute.

The real cal howard said:
The Digirap was fun and I liked it.
C'mon, the bit where it goes "Chaaaange into Digital Champions tooo save the Digital World" is awesome. I love the dub soundtrack to death, it just fits the digital, techno setting of the show so well.

Although the other DigiRap, the one they play in the movie, there's no defending that one.

Is that Windows 95?

Also, could you link the high res image? For research and Digimon lore, of course.

And also I might not be pre-ordering the 20th anniversary box after I just found out that it's much harder and more expensive with things like the custom fees and stuff. I will cry everytime

Adventures Etemon vs Myotismon?

edit: also, we cannot scale VenomMyotismon to MaloMyotismon right?

What's up with anthropomorphic Digimon and having their eyes covered by a helmet? Off the top of my head every Angemon-species Digimon, Seraphimon, Angewomon, Ophanimon, Mastemon, Kazemon, Sakuyamon, Rosemon, Lotusmon, Silphymon, Valkyrimon, Minervamon, and Venusmon are some examples.

There's also Petermon and Tinkermon.

Like KoolRay said, it's probably there to make them more interesting then just humans.

What everyone has said is pretty on the mark. However, based on what I believe it was Habu stated. The helmets were made to keep up the impression of digital monsters. Although...that fails horribly when we have official art showing Ophanimon helmitless.

I'm thinking of adding a better explanation to Alphamon's Alpha In Force and I think I've figured out a way to explain the technique well. First let's look at the descriptions of Alpha In Force.

Because it possesses the "Alpha inForce" ability, an ultimate force which, in battle, instantaneously replays the elapsed battle, although Alphamon's attacks are over in just an instant, you can't grasp how many attacks it actually unleashed, and in theory, you can only see the final blow that brought down its opponent.

Its Alpha inForce allows it to take back the time that has elapsed in an instant!
What is said:

  • 1) Alphamon attacks;
  • 2) Alphamon reset the battle;
  • 3) You can not see how many Alphamon attacks used in battle, the opponent just sees the last attack.
From what has been said it seems that Alphamon restarts the battle, but the effect of the blow continues. So we can say that Alphamon is technically unaffected by temporal restarts, so Alphamon's attacks still exist even back to the past before the cause that created them to exist. Thus, Alphamon is able to take an attack (a cause) and go back in time to repeat the attack (another cause), but the initial attack did not disappear and continues advancing to the opponent (Effect). So Alphamon is able to restart the cause and effect relationship to repeat his actions, however the effects of the initial cause continue to exist even with their cause no longer exist, it is a mixture of temporal restart with acausality in my opinion.

It is actually as if Alphamon added effects without the causes existed, at least not in that timeline. The initial cause comes from a past that no longer exists because time has been restarted, but even without cause the effect continues to exist. So the list of events would be:

  • 1) Alphamon attacks (Cause)
  • 2) Alphamon resets time;
  • 3) Alphamon attacks (Another Cause), but the effect of the first event continues to exist.
  • 4) Alphamon repeats this cycle always restarting cause and effect without the effect ceasing to exist.
  • 5) After an indefinite number of restarts the opponent receives a large number of effects whose cause no longer existed in its timeline.
The final effect is the same as it already is on your page, Alphamon can give an infinite number of movements in a single instant. But I do not think it should be considered as causality manipulation, to me this is more like a Temporal Manipulation (Time Resets) and Acausality (Alphamon's attacks continue to exist even though their cause has not yet occurred) junction.

It's kind of a mixture of all 3 powers to be fair. Cuz Alphamon loves his time powers. All he needs is Time Erase to replace Clockmon as the true Time Based Digimon.

And then you remember that in Sunburst / Moonlight Alphamon belongs to the evolutionary line of Clockmon OvO

From Clockmon we can say that comes temporal powers, Grademon comes the skills with sword, now .... what DORUguremon gives to the form of Alphamon? :v

Oh yeah, I forgot that. It's like the two are competing for best time Digimon. inb4 they reveal that Alphamon is the Conceptual Embodiment of Time. I mean, I already consider him the Dialga of Digimon. ovo
