Devil May Cry Discussion Thread

In all fairness, this could be said more accurately about most of Capcom's franchises.

Darkstalkers hasn't had an entry in ages and has had one of its protagonists revised into a different person by crossover material while Darkstalkers itself does nothing. Dragon's Dogma has been dormant as well. Rival Schools is essentially abandoned, as are God Hand, Dino Crisis and Asura's Wrath, to name just a few.

Capcom is known at this point for the fact that Resident Evil and Monster Hunter get almost all of their attention.

A little. They get some attention sometimes, when Resident Evil and Monster Hunter have had more than their fill and there's some left over.
That's because new Street Fighter games usually come out several years after the previous one, they are mainly online games with a long lifespan.

Monster Hunter and Resident Evil are primarily single-player games, so sequels are expected a few years later.

Street Fighter only got attention wjen it came to supporting the 5th game as much till its end, paying off at 7 million sales

And with SF6 being their biggest fighter now, they plan to support for 1 whole decade according to them, it was already an expensive game to make to begin with too

Eh Dragon's Dogma 2 is literally getting an expansion this year, hardly dormant.

This is suppose to be some lore inconsistency or mistranslation? Somebody pointed to me loooong ago that Dante apparently killed Mundus in DMC1

Like Gilver said, the terms are for some reason used interchangeably.

DMC1 says Mundus is resurrecting despite Sparda only sealing his ass, DMC2 says something like Sparda killed everyone and DMC4 only says Mundus was sealed both times.

If it was up to me I would say its an inconsistency that somehow happens every single time
