Devil May Cry Discussion Thread

Best thing to do is a remake, like with RE series, DMC1 and DMC2 would be the best options given one shows its age and the other is the worst of the series

A modern remake would be great if done similarly like RE

I always forget about DMC4 has a novel. When I say novels I mostly meant volume 1 & 2

Volume 1 doesn't need to change anything, all the "problems" steam from the english fanbase getting a ****** up translation and most people being dumb af

I finished it a few weeks ago I'd already finished the HD Collection trilogy a few years before, but I didn't remember much and I think it's bad. Maybe not as bad as the internet makes it out to be, but still bad.

I'm currently playing DMC3 and damn it's hard. It took me a few days to beat Agni and Rudra and now I'm facing Vergil.

Let them give us a new game with a memorable and iconic villain/antagonist who is not Vergil (either a completely new character or the return of Mundus but as a much better character than before). I wouldn't even be angry if they permanently replaced Dante and Vergil or even if they died.

But given the success of the Resident Evil remakes, I think there's a better chance they'll release remakes of the first three games.

Correction actual, Gilver has been Vergil clone since 2007 anime CD dramas. So even then first novel was canon. In fact there is 2004/5 magazine idr properly which talks about Tony Redgrave.
The lore of Tony Redgrave, Gilver, Nell Goldstien and Ebony and Ivory pistols are extremely important and formative for Dante, them being non canon is entirely untenable.

It also disproves Dante sold all his weapons. He keeps all his weapons as collateral at Enzo's pawn shop and regularly pays him rent as guise to help his friend. Since he feels guilty about cutting his arm. Enzo does try to sell the weapons, but they don't get sold.
Also at the end of that chapter it's shown that Dante/Trish/Lady had planned a con to fool Enzo and Morrison to get the weapons back because bad people and demons are always trying to get them and become a danger magnet for Enzo. At the end all three take the weapons back to his shop.
Morrison is pretty pissed at this long time friends conning him like that, but let's it slide after hearing the reason.

So yes, Dante and Trish have all the weapons back at DMC shop as of now and they both use them however they wish.

Yet the fanboy Zero on youtube when he watched the battle claims Dante doesnt have most powers or weapons anymore cuz he is selling them, but then again he also complained why Dante doesnt spam his abilities more in animation too like a player would

She is not his mom. Trish would take great offense at being treated like Eva. Hell probably even Eva would be disappointed if her son treated Trish like that. After Trish sacrificed so much for Dante. Even Dante isn't that kind of person. His emotional maturity is greatly underestimated.

Also throughout all games, they alone have this chemistry. And they work and look great together.
Also DMC4 Saber of Saviour artbook calls her Dante's lover who have his absolute trust.

Unless some future writer absolutely mucks all the writing up, don't expect any girl to rival Trish for Dante's heart.

Yeah that too. But it's joke. I don't see Dante and Trish having that kind of dynamic, even if does contribute to some deep emotional issues.

Like Dante saves Trish as a first priority after immediately waking up in DMC5, and only proceeds after knowing she is safe in Vs presence.

There's also DMC4 pachinko lol. They outright having play date energy throughout.

I didnt say she is his mom, but she has hear appearance, its weird to date or have a relationship with someone who looks like your mother, father, sister, brother etc, even if they arent related
 
Allow fiction to be fiction. I think it's the best relation for both. Only they understand each other's deep issue and capable of caring and protecting each other. No other person can be privy or helpful in solving those vulnerabilities.

Even more corrections.

Like I said, the problem with Volume 1 comes from the bad translations we got. In our "official" translation Gilver is explicitly said to be Vergil while in the original japanese text it's a different case. Gilver is only theorized to be Vergil by Dante for a short while but only as a lingering thought.

This is further explained in volume 2 as Dante recognizes Gilver was only a devil and knows the difference between him and his brother (Nelo Angelo at the time).

So yeah, Gilver was never Vergil to begin with.

A beautiful woman who runs "Devil May Cry" together with Dante. She is a top-class devil hunter who uses extraordinary martial arts, and when a request for demon hunting comes, she demonstrates her skills as Dante's right-hand man.

She appears to have been providing Dante with logistical support, such as guiding the people. She appears to be Dante's lover, but also his business partner... The details are unknown. The only thing that is certain is that Dante has absolute trust in her.


it's not clear so that could be an exaggeration

Her Instinctive Action, aura, deadeye like perception, and potentially better marksmanship that outclasses lady.
And she also wielded swords.
Beastheads is the cherry on top.
A curse turned blessing.

She also wears battle appropriate outfit and armor unlike the rest.
