Devil May Cry Discussion Thread 2

To be fair most slashing or peircing weapons he gets hit by are either

1) swung by someone on par with him Vergil and Abigail being the main examples.

2) Something that caught him off guard. Lady's bullets in 3 and nero's sword in 4.

Or Finally 3) apart of the plan like in the anime as he needed to play dead.
 
1) The sand demons in DMC3 were demonstratably weaker than he was given that he could oneshot them with punches- they still could hurt him fine

2) Off guard does not suddenly make your body weaker by a massive margin

3) The plan works because you can shoot Dante, the bullet will work, but otherwise he'll be fine

To boot- we see other demons aren't immune to these things either- further enforcing they have typical action-hero durability where explosions, falls, and punches won't break their body but bullets and bladed weapons will.

2) in fiction it can See goku (got bodied by a laser), madura (got bodied by legitimate fodder), or well a lot of other fictional verses

3). Or it works because he was deliverately letting himself be hurt to draw out the demon.


And we also see other demons like arkham or abigail that are heavily resistant to them and Dante >>>>>>>>>>>>> them especially in devil trigger.

It's a common theme to ALWAYS injure the character who can regenerate and shake off mortal wound like nothing just to show off how they can survive

1) Full access in this case meaning Devil Trigger as his durability isn't shown to change nor is any mention of it made nor was it ever implied.

2) X character requiring concentration/channeled energy to enhance themself is not relevant to Dante. Also exactly zero of the people who 'surprise' Dante in DMC3 are bullet-timers while he is so surprised isn't really a good reason in the first place.

3) Except Dante has never shown the ability to control his durability.

4) This is not a one-time thing- Dante has consistently not been able to tank stabbing or piercing weapons and neither have others who share his powers like Arkham or Vergil and even Nero aside from his Devil Arm. The only reason someone could even argue otherwise is nonsense energy levels and those aren't even how bladed weapons function.

I'm saying they have action-hero durability where they only ever tank blunt damage like explosions or shockwaves- not 'sharp' damage like bullets or blades as it never happens and the opposite is shown not once, but repeatedly through the games for multiple characters.

I'll not touch "glass cannon" with a long stick.

Dante gets a visable stat increase even in base after gaining access to it.

2) i mean Dante does control and manipulate Demonic energy through out his body as show with air hike, his dash, Drive which has him focuse energy into rebellion, Royal guard style which has him focuse his energy to block and absorbe incoming attacks even from a huge mega beam in the light novel, Devil trigger explosions, and he focuses demonic energy into ebony and ivory which is why they never run out of ammo. As for no people surpising him being bullet timers Lady shoots bullets out of the air in the anime and can fight bullet timing demons up close. So Shes a bullet timer. Nero can dodge dante's gunfire and seems to make a sonic boom when dashing So he's a bullet timer.


3) Other demons who he's comprable to have Trish during her fight with lady Lady's punches where genuinly making her flinch and lady compared fighting trish to another human Due to trish holding back. Also worth noting Trish was caught of guard by a fragmentation grenade and was Perfectly fine Oh also Dante visably getting his ass kicked by Nero in the start of DMC 4 because he underestimated him.

4) I remember destinctly Vergil and Dante requiring a lot of force to shove there blades through Arkham in his blob form

To be fair even when they fought a second time Dante was panting and shit, it's clear he had to put SOME effort into the second fight even though he could have killed Nero anytime he want. Our boy Nero may be more immersive than we gave him credit for~

Btw, demon trees were mentioned back in DMC1 novel, and we can see one in DMC5 trailer as well. And considering that there are other things from various DMC media, Itsuno might be trying to make all pieces of DMC media canon.

I just can't buy this theory, Dante and Lady been knowing each other for like 20+ years by now and just now they figured they want to bang each other? I can't see Dante having son unless Capcom is giving him the Kratos treatment. Also, if MUST then I prefer Dant to have affair with completely new character
