Deathwatch RP Thread 1

"We will try to avoid it, but the situation has gotten dire rather quickly."

Go to the governor's location with haste

@Ambasaddor group

You are quickly escorted through a series of hallways, elevators and tunnels to reach a great gunmetal gray gate which guards the grand gathering of every piece of decorative architecture in the entire hive you've witnessed so far. If there ever was a place fit to be the governor's sanctum on this world, it would be this place.

@Overlord775

The shots impact, small explosions giving away the location of small bodies falling down, destroyed.

@Ambassador group

You are taken swiftly through to the governor's own personal office, decorated lavishly as one might expect. Though there is little sign of the man yet. Your fellow Marines sign you in advance to keep your eyes open.

@Overlord775

Bloody bits and body parts fall away from the dark spot you had fired into it. They impact several tens of meters ahead.

"Let us investigate first," the Captain replies as he gets closer.

"Reserve the rounds for the vermin that can be seen, and not the men that flee, darkness lets fate guides our bullets instead of our eyes."

You are at last presented before a large table holding a highly augmented man, far larger than even your bodies. He sits enthroned in riches and seemingly immobile, his mask staring back at you coldly much like any other of this world.

Marks all around are seen with the name "Zest" written all over, a familial name or that of the governor, the fact is not important. The man speaks, and his voice is deep bass layered with the hum of electronics:

"Lord Astartes, it is good to finally meet you in the flesh...so to speak."

@Underhive gang

"Regular humans, from the looks of it. But there's something more here," the Captain voxes.

"Affirmative, ease your arms with the civilians found unless they prove too agitated to be complicit - A bullet wasted is a second lost from our lives."

"Wait..." the Captain says. "...I wish I had brought the Apothecary with us here. Gaze upon this."

"And what might that be? My security detail has not provided any information of the sort."

"While we were resting, just in the halls outside us, there were conspirators discussing our arrival. After that, some psychic entity killed both of them, and nearly disposed of me before I returned fire. We believe they are planning to do something in the festival, and we should cancel it entirely to halt whatever they are planning."

"I am afraid Lord Astartes that is not possible at the current time. The festival has already spread far and wide across the world. I cannot halt it even if I gave the order now."

You see the bodies clearly mutated. Entrails discolored, disproportionate bits of flesh. These bodies are carrying something less and less human as you observe them.

"That's not all. Keep a listen to your surroundings," he says, as he quiets down and lets the resounding ambience crawl in. Something can be heard in the background, some great ethereal noise that reverberates like a rapid heartbeat. You can't pinpoint the source. It is faint, so faint you almost can't hear it over your own breathing. But it is there, like an invisible predator in a murky lake. But it seems to be coming from everywhere around you.

"Something is down here," the Captain says, quietly, outside of his vox channel.

"Advance. We still have not confirmed anything," the Captains says, throwing aside the remains he had picked up to analyze.

"I could have the main festival hall reinforced and guard count tripled within the hour, if you would permit me of course. I can assure you, whatever it is that we are dealing with, there will be no corner in this globe that is without my grasp to be forced into compliance."

"... That is what I am less certain of. We cannot be sure that the conspiracy hasn't pierced your guardsmen as well."

"They have all been implanted from birth Lord Astartes. One act of defiance against me would spell their immediate termination."

"... These cultists are not necessarily the type to fear death... But, then again, I suppose that just standing here speaking of uncertainty is going to get us nowhere. We will also stand guard with your bolstered forces to try and prevent any catastrophy."

"I would much appreciate that Lord Astartes. I understand you are on edge, however I believe it would be best if we continued the schedule as was planned to avoid unnecessary panic."

"... Understandable. I suppose we will just have to observe and see if we must intervene, then."

"Indeed."

@Underhive group

You descend further still. It's pitch black now, the only light provided by your suits, your path cleared by specialized visors. A sense of foreboding looms over all.

Grival keep his guard very high, continuing the journey while staying catius of every sound that can be heard, of every movement that can be percived.

Something catches the corner of your peripheral vision. As you turn your eyes up, you see a massive shadow skulking around the crevices of the ceiling, seemingly defying gravity. A dull sound like a shrill vibration can be heard coming from it.

@Ambasaddor group

You return to the main hall though the atmosphere has changed. It is charged now, perhaps befitting of a party ramping up, but something feels off.

... anything is bound to feel off under these conditions. But, without any leads, all one can do is observe and pray to the Emperor.

"Something is above us !"

Grimal cominucates to the other via vox comunication, as he then opens fire towards the entity.

"I can see that much," the Captain barked as he drew out his Storm Bolters. You find cycling through different kinds of vision of your visors don't do much. The thing is perfectly camouflaged.

It falls down from the ceiling at the fire directed towards it. It launches itself toward the Captain, showing it's true bulk as it dwarfs even the Terminator armor. The two struggle before the beast...thing...whatever it is breaks a hole into the ground and falls inside along with him.
