Deathwatch RP Thread 1

"Captain down !"
Grimal quickly moves to the hole and look downwards, attemping to see if he can see anything of what's happening down there with the light provided by his power armor.

You don't see either the Captain or the creature inside the newly created hole. You do however see tens of masses cloaked in shadow crawling their way up to you.

“****!” Jaeger grunts as he runs over to look into the hole for the Captain and upon seeing the masses coming up towards him he yells out “Theres more, everybody get ready!” as he gets into a combat stance.

Nobel actions him to plug to the hole with the gunpowder laden lid of his launcher as the dark manifest of these creatures spill into view - the Longwatch regular shouting in the Gila Monster Lingua Franca as he takes aim

"!الذخائر المتفجرة"
(EXPLOSIVE ORDANCE!)

"KEEP DISTANCE"
With the pull of a trigger punctuating his shouts as he fires his weapon towards the pit.

Many of the creatures are cut down in the initial volley of Bolter fire as well as the the explosion that ensues from Nobel's rocket fire. But enough make it past the pit to start attacking you, heading for Jaeger first.

Jaeger begins to back up as he slashes at the Beasts throats and joints yelling “Come on ye ****** Beasts!”

Grimal fires more bullets, while making sure to not hit his fellow Astardes.

The priority goes:
  1. Beasts that are getting too close to himself
  2. Beasts that are attacking Jeager
  3. Other Beasts

You see then, as you rip them apart, camouflage being dispelled amid slashed limbs and torn bodily appendages, what the creatures are, even as they die to blade and bullet.

Hormagaunts. Dozens of them.

Most of the xenos are cut down. But the ones coming closer to Jaeger are still coming.

Grimal shoots the ones that are further away from Jeager, though if even those are close enough that there would be the risk of hitting his fellow companion with the bolter fire he would instead not fire and just let his companion deal with the few remaining ones.

Grimal, though requires reloading.

@DMUA

You detect unnatural movement in the corner of your eye. Some figures that simply do not seem to...fit, though go unnoticed from the rest of the party.

... That is worth looking into. Try to go over and get a clearer visual.

@DMUA

The people actively slow down in the wake of your approach, though otherwise pretend they can't notice anything.

@Overlord775

Grimal successfully reloads. The initial wave of xenos seems to have abated somewhat.

You spot one of them holding a weirdly shaped object. Under a fashioned warp of cloth, you can notice bits of ceramic poking through.

Using the moment of calm, Grimal attemps to see if he can still comunicate with the Captain through the Vox-channel.

"Captain, can you hear me ? What is the situation down there ?"

"Oh my lord," the man replies, unwrapping the thing. A vase of pottery much like the ancient ones of Old Terra is revelated. "We are merely bringing the finest wine to the Governor himself. It is an off-planet product, very expensive and only brought out on days like this."

"Hmm..."

Aonghus listens closely for anything abnormal about their heartbeat, or the smell of the wine itself.

@Overlord775

[General faraway bug noises and the like]

@DMUA

Their heartbeats do not betray much, though the smell of the wine does. It is not bad nor screaming of toxins per say...only strange.

[Are there any signs that more tyranids will arrive ? also, are there materials nearby i can use to fortify the position ?]

[Seemingly not for the moment and no there aren't any]

"... Well, we are in a situation where security is required. I cannot surely say you should continue bringing that to the governor."

"If you wish to investigate it is yours to do so, lord," the servant replies as he extends the pottery.

Aonghus takes the pottery, taking a closer sniff.

The smell still gives back no indicators of ill intent, only something strange.

Hmm...

"... I cannot quite smell any toxins, but there is something strange here... What exactly is it's contents?"

Listen to their heartbeat on this part.

"Oh that must be the flavoring lord. You see, we require a serious excess of it to feel anything through our perpetually choked lungs."

"... Is that so? Even with the technology of our age, you still need something this notable to get the flavor through?"

"It is our regrettable reality that even the governor is not free of lord."

"Hmm... Given the circumstances, I will still follow you as you deliver it. You may proceed."

He reports this over Vox, making sure they're all aware of the situation and that they need to stay vigilant.
