Death Note Canonicity Question

I've recently started reading Death Note: Another Note. An officially-licensed novel for the Death Note series written by a different author; Nisio Isin.

Do we treat this as canon? Because if so I can already tell that there's additional intelligence feats and abilities that L will get from it.

L Change the WorLd isn't canon, that's a novelization of the movie of the same title, and that movie takes place in a different continuity.
