DCU General Discussion Thread

So at this point, other than profiles that haven't been made/finished for the verse, I guess the other major stuff left to work on includes:

Some noteworthy stuff that stuck out from the Superman screenplay:
  • Some extra scenes are included that didn't make it into the final cut, including the dead Abominable Snowmen and Ultraman punching Krypto
  • Superman rushes at the Hammer of Borovia at "ten times the speed of a supersonic jet"
  • The Kaiju exerts thousands of tons of pressure when it tries to crush Superman underfoot, later increasing the pressure by an unspecified amount
  • The Kaiju is stated to shoot "irradiated fire" (Radiation Manipulation?)
  • Green Lantern is once again stated to create his constructs out of solid light
  • Hawkgirl is confirmed to be in her 20s
  • Mr. Terrific would've been bitten in half by the Kaiju if he didn't evade it
  • When Superman demands to know what happened to Krypto and throws the desk, Lex flinches, but composes himself "in a microsecond"
  • The Jellyfish Imp fires "colorful sparks" that are compared to fireworks
  • The Pocket Universe prison cells are made of Plexiglass
  • Some Raptors use electric batons
  • Heat vision is described as a laser multiple times, consistent with the artbook statements
  • Superman causes the entire mobile communications hub to shudder when he flies through the window to subdue Luthor
  • Supergirl is stated to be 21 years old

Supergirl is stated to be 21 years old
That’s interesting for the timeline, since Kara says she’s 23 in the Supergirl trailer. I would’ve thought the ending of Superman leads directly into Supergirl, but I guess not.

Every thing that I found notable:
-Superman approaches the Hammer of Boravia "10 times faster than a supersonic jet"
-The Hammer of Boravia broke some of Superman's ribs in their second encounter.
-The Engineer wasn't harmed by Krypto. She dodge it.
-Is stated that Superman struggled to lift the Kaiju every time he did.
-He flew to the Fortress at top speed after finding out the reveal about his parents.
-Lex can compose himself in microseconds (Joke. But yeah, it says that).
-The skies of the pocket universe and the Pi River (The previous form of the anti-proton river) are stated to be endless/infinite.
-The numbers of the Pi River threatened to "bring the whole thing down".
-Raptors use all their strength to beat a kryptonite poisoned Superman. Like in the scenes for the trailer.
-Terrific stated that the black holes were capable to vaporize them instantly, not the river.
-The Raptors weren't supposed to be able to touch the river neither.
-The Raptors were not contending with Superman. They just attacked from a distance, Superman tanking their blast to the face and then defeated them with a single heat vision beam.
-Lois told the Daily Planet that the Superman video was fake in a scene that didn't make it to the final cut.
-The weight of the building that Superman lifted was "too much for even him".
-Superman flying to outer space was also his top speed.
-They reached the Karman line. Superman diving to the ground at top speed again.
-The Engineer was rendered into a comma.
-Metamorpho turns his body into "glop" so that firearms do not harm him.
-Krypto slam Ultraman "with the force of a train".
-Superman knocked-out Ultraman before facing the swarm of Raptors.
-Ultraman pinning down Superman was a "momentary upper hand".

You beat me to it.

The number of newspaper in the trailer was like a year ahead from the ones in Superman. 2026 I think it's fine. Maybe she was almost 22 in Superman.

My thoughts on some of the previous works of Christina Hodson:
  • Bumblebee: My favorite Transformers movie until Transformers One came out
  • Birds of Prey: I liked it overall. My biggest gripe was that Cassandra Cain wasn't remotely comic accurate, but that was apparently the result of WB interfering
  • The Flash: I thought it was okay, which is better than I would've expected, considering I thought like 45 different writers were attached to the movie at different points. I'd argue much of the Batman stuff ended up being among the highlights of the finished movie
  • Batgirl: Well, I can't exactly judge this one...
Also, it seems she wrote a script for a Batman Beyond movie that never got made:

Huh, the writer of BATB wanted to include a comic accurate Cass in a previous movie she did… and James Gunn is also a huge Cass fan…

I take back what I said about crashing out, the ‘Cass as the DCU Batgirl’ stocks are so up-

I have only watched The Flash, which I think is indeed poorly written. I have heard good thing about Bumblebee and Birds of Prey though. But yeah, for the moment I don't expect much.

The Kaiju in Superman shot a beam of ignited liquid. Wouldn't that require a new calc? If I'm not mistaken, the original one just calculated the energy needed to heat the air.

Thats just the sim they did to get the fire effect its got nothing to do with it still being a blast of fire and they aren't say it ignited a liquid

Remind me to do some new calcs for the backlog of stuff we have to complete
Unless I’m forgetting something (which is entirely possible), the only calc we need atm is the light speed heat vision stuff from Superman.

Creature Commandos has all the calcs it needs afaik, we just need to actually make the profiles.

The light speed heat vision is the biggest thing at this point. The other potential things I could think of right now would be:

It seems the Lanterns teaser currently circulating was a leak; James Gunn posted his own little teaser for the teaser:
