Cthulhu mythos Discussion Thread

We could make the argument that the dimensions going up to High 1-A if you take Kull's "universes within universes" thing liberally enough.
I don't know about High 1-A but it would certainly help boost the cosmology. I also don't see why it's not used when the Verse page says the following "The Cthulhu Mythos, known to Howard Phillips Lovecraft as Yog-Sothothery, encompasses the shared elements, characters, settings, and themes found in the works of Lovecraft and associated horror fiction writers."

From the verse page:
Note: This wiki only considers the works H. P. Lovecraft and his close friends wrote during his life as canonical despite the Cthulhu Mythos now being public domain. Profiles here primarily use Lovecraft's primary writings, with occasional contributions to the Mythos from close friends like Frank Belknap Long and Clark Ashton Smith, and consider the expanded Mythos as non-canonical fan works.

So, should we discuss the tiering now that the tiering system has changed (well not yet but ya'll get the point)?

A single Universe is currently High 1-B, this wouldn't change really, but the Gates above it absolutely would (and should).
The first outer extension is currently 1-A, but it should be downgraded to Low 1-A, the second Gates should either be Baseline 1-A or High 1-A. The third one should either be High 1-A or 0. That would make the whole Hierarchy infinite layers into tier 0. The Ultimate Void should be the first inaccessible into 0 and then you can also make an argument for Supreme Archetype having that whole cosmology repeated once more making him either infinite layers into 1st inaccessible or the second inaccessible into tier 0.

How does that even follow from anything in the tiering revision?
  1. Universes: High 1-B - This will remain the same.
  2. Multiverse: Low 1-A - This will be changed to High 1-B+
  3. Outer Extension: 1-A - This will be changed to Low 1-A.
  4. Hierarchy of Gates: 1-A+ - This will remain the same, as moving the Outer extension one layer down doesn't change the infinite hierarchy it's a part of.
  5. Ultimate Void: High 1-A - This will remain the same.
  6. Supreme Archetype: 0 - This will remain the same.

The new system is no confusing. How does it even work😭

This is what Ultima's proposing:
  1. Everything from Low 2-C to High 1-B will remain the same.
  2. A new High 1-B+ tier will be added to accommodate verses with uncountably infinite dimensions or higher.
  3. Low 1-A to Tier 0 will no longer be related to dimensionality at all, instead being turned into a tier solely for metaphysical transcendences.

Suprised the quote from From Beyond where a character mentions he intends to "overlap time, space and dimensions" to reach "the bottom of creation" isn't used

This is the relevant quote. What do you propose we use it for?
“What do we know,” he had said, “of the world and the universe about us? Our means of receiving impressions are absurdly few, and our notions of surrounding objects infinitely narrow. We see things only as we are constructed to see them, and can gain no idea of their absolute nature. With five feeble senses we pretend to comprehend the boundlessly complex cosmos, yet other beings with a wider, stronger, or different range of senses might not only see very differently the things we see, but might see and study whole worlds of matter, energy, and life which lie close at hand yet can never be detected with the senses we have. I have always believed that such strange, inaccessible worlds exist at our very elbows, and now I believe I have found a way to break down the barriers. I am not joking. Within twenty-four hours that machine near the table will generate waves acting on unrecognised sense-organs that exist in us as atrophied or rudimentary vestiges. Those waves will open up to us many vistas unknown to man, and several unknown to anything we consider organic life. We shall see that at which dogs howl in the dark, and that at which cats prick up their ears after midnight. We shall see these things, and other things which no breathing creature has yet seen. We shall overleap time, space, and dimensions, and without bodily motion peer to the bottom of creation.

Not much, I just think it would be a nice addition to the explanation page. You may recall the last downgrade thread attempted to argue the verse capped at Low 1-A. I think the passage is further confirmation that this is not the case, as the character explains he intends to "overleap" dimensions to reach the bottom of creation. It's more supporting evidence than anything honestly.

I still think it's stupid that we threat Ultimate Chaos and Ultimate Void (specifically from TTGOTSK) as the same. When Lovecraft quite literally says it himself that you need the Ancient Ones and the Silver key to open Gates. The same story also happens AFTER Randolph Carter almost goes to Azathoth's Court in DQOUK.

Which Nonexistence physiology aspects should Ultimate Gods have?

What do you think will happen if I revive Lovecraft and force him to see all the anime girls people made based on his works? Do you think he'll turn into a weeb and a simp for Ina'nis?

Hello!
I hope everyone is having a great day
I wanna learn about cthulhu mythos more, from scratch to outer gods themselves.
