This only indicates that the gods have resistance to fate manipulation. Hades can defeat Athena with Nike, the goddess of victory, who manipulates destiny to grant victory to its user. Also, Cronus never used this power with another god, because he did not fight with gods, his opponents were the Saints. Pontus does not manipulate the fate of the gods, he is a weaker god than Cronus.
