Creating a Fissure calc help

What it says on the tin, I've been unable to find a calc like what I need to reference.

A character I'm looking into created a split in the earth by punching the ground and we know the exact length of it, so I wanna see what it can get.

Should it be a fragmentation of soil/stone? Or would it require a different method?
