Coyote vs Harpy Eagle

Okay, so here's the deal. We have the Coyote, and then we have the Harpy Eagle. From what I can tell, both creatures can go from around 10-C to 10-B. From what I can tell, here's what both creatures have.

Coyote

• Hunted larger prey, like goats and sheep
• Largest individuals are slightly out of weight class of harpy eagle prey
• More adaptable

= Typically uses stealth to stalk prey

• Bite force is weaker than harpy eagle's talons (173.4 N)
• Slightly slower
• Cannot fly obviously
• Relies on larger animals for food at times

Harpy Eagle

• Wider prey range than coyotes
• Talons are stronger than coyote bites (490 N)
• Flight allows for better mobility
• Slightly faster
• Can hunt without assistance from larger animals

= Typically uses stealth to stalk prey

• Less adaptable
• Largest coyotes slightly outweigh harpy eagle's prey
• Hollow bones may make them less durable despite protection provided by feathers (shares this weakness with other birds)

Both creatures start where they hunt best, with the coyotes obviously on the ground and the harpy eagle in the canopy of a tree. That being said, let's see who wins this match.

I feel like there's not much of a way for the coyote to win this one. Eagles are known for eating mid-low weight animals like these, and while the harpy eagle is smaller, it still takes down impressive catches. While it may be a bit physically weaker, its ability to fly makes dealing damage a lot easier.

That really doesn't matter when the bird can grip harder than a man (490 newtons vs 460 newtons).

Plus even if a harpy eagle couldn't lift, have you SEEN a harpy eagle's talons?:

A freaking teen stabbed a coyote with a pocket knife to kill it; the harpy eagle's toting four kitchen knives on each of it's feet; what's a coyote gonna do against getting stabbed by eight times the knives?

You are speaking like weight doesn't matter on animals, Eagles only hunts animals that doesn't defend.

Yeah they can injure the Coyote, but would not insta-kill them because the moment the Eagle grips it the Coyote would bite them.

The eagle has the high-ground advantage here. If anybody's going to land the lethal blow first, I would bet on the one with wings.

The Coyote is like four times their weight, we are talking about an Eastern one. Any grip the Eagle tries to do an the Coyote would easily dismantle them with bites.

Btw an Ocelot hunted Eagles of this size, an Eastern Coyote would not have any hard time against them.

Correction, the Eagle could be 10-B despite it's small size if it can grip harder than a man.

What do you personally have against weight as a factor? There's a reason why we would poop our pants if we saw a desperate T. Rex trying to run towards us and eat us.

And you're a calc group member that knows N*m = J. A smaller size yields lower range, which in turn decreases the potential J via lower displacement. However, if a smaller animal can dish out enough N, that could yield them a higher tier than other animals of a similar size (which is your point). A robust wolf that's half the weight than you is 10-B compared to a regular child of similar weight.

The only other problem you'll have to deal with a smaller size is lower range (pretty much any MMA player can tell you the difficulty of trying to strike someone with longer arms/legs), but I doubt it in this case since this a bird v dog fight.

I didn't know how to say this at first in the first post I have here, but has the harpy eagle shown to overpower anything on the league of the Eastern Wolf, and how good is their grip strength really?

Judging by the bird's profile, the bird would fail to lift the wolf since it hasn't been built to fly and lift anything that big. Unless anyone has a counterargument, the best thing the bird's grip is good for is flailing around gripping onto a wolf for some peaking.

Idk if I say it but Eastern Coyote FRA via weight and the fact even smaller 10-C ocelots can kill this eagle.
