The plot is entirely dependent on how characters are supposed to act. How would Yuri act in this situation? How would Natsuki react to this happening to her? How would these two people interact?

Not in oki doki, no. Its the other way around, as the characters are forced to act in specific ways by the script, always falling in love with the player no matter what, and doing somethiong not predicted by the script will either be interupted (monika trying to talk to you) or creeate glitches. Thescript is obviously dependant on the character files, but the files can exist whiteout it.
