Candyman (2021) additions

Its been roughly two years since the 2021 Nia DeCosta Candyman requel released, which not only erased Farewell to the Flesh and Day of the Dead from the Candyman timeline, but also gave its titular villain some new powers and abilities, so why not go over that, shall we?

First off, in the film, one of Candyman’s bees infected Anthony after stinging him. Not only does this kick off the events of the film, but it ultimately builds up to the rebirth of The Candyman as Anthony would basically become his host in a way (Ironic that I say that, because Tony Todd is also Venom in the upcoming Spider-Man game lol)

But anyway, Anthony transforms into Daniel Robitaille at the end of the film after being infected and Candyman’s name being spoken to complete the transformation. I believe this should be either Corruption or Assimilation of sorts, along with Disease Manipulation, but let me know what you all think.

Oh yeah, and one more thing, this might also mean Candyman gets a new key, given that the 2021 film ignores the events of Farewell to the Flesh and Day of the Dead, so yeah.

Actually, the 2021 film refers to Candyman as Daniel Robitaille, which wasn’t a name introduced until Farewell to the Flesh. Ergo, I don’t think another key is necessary, and it shares the same canon as the sequels

Impossible. Candyman was killed off for good at the end of the third film.
Oddly enough? That wouldn’t contradict it

The 2021 film, weirdly enough, takes place in 2019. Day of the Dead takes place in 2020 according to the film itself. It takes place 25 years after the second film, which was set in 1995

Also, having recently watched all of the Candyman films, the wiki’s profile is not only outdated. It’s flat out describing his abilities wrong. Like, for example, Candyman has not once shown off intangibility in any of the films (in fact, characters he’s not even focused on have physically interacted with him in the films), and having parts of his body hollowed out dk not qualify for intangibility. His invisibility is also fairly overplayed in the profile. Yes, he could go undetectable to cameras, but that’s perception manipulation of anything, and even those who didn’t summon Candyman have been able to spot him after he’s been summoned before

There’s more I could criticize, but yeah, he needs a huge overhaul

Compiling and revising abilities would be simple, though one thing that’s out of my control is giving him a more solid rating (without an approved calc). I don’t disagree with 9-C, but I feel like this feat in particular would be worth calculating since it’s definitely his best feat

We should link it either on the calculation requests thread or on the message wall of a calc member who is accepting requests.
