Premise:

This blog contains Gin's, Retsu's, Byakuya's, Sajin's, Shunsui's and Tosen's revised profiles (ignore Mayuri's, he'll be addressed in a future thread), i'll spoiler box the added abilities while also linking the current profiles so mods and non-mods can compare and contrast both more easily.

(Note: Retsu's, Byakuya's, Shunsui's and Tosen's profiles were originally revised by @Arcker123, he just wasn't interested in finishing them formatting-wise so i ask him if i could and he said yes, so the vast majority of work on those profiles go to him, not me)

Gin Ichimaru

Added Enhanced Stealth Mastery and Enhanced Camouflage (With Reiatsu Concealing Cloak - Gin can completely negate the emission of his Reiatsu, causing him to become unsensible to even Shinigami[4]. He can also intertwine Kido into this cloak which causes him to blend into the environment and conceals his physical appearance[5])

Added Limited Cloth Manipulation and Teleportation (With Sentan Hakuja - Gin can spin a long, white piece of cloth in a circular motion, trapping himself and anyone else caught in the twirl of cloth. As the cloth tightens, with a white flash, it teleports the targets to another location[6]), Weapon Control (With Shikai and Bankai - Gin's Zanpaktou's main functionality is the extension and contraction of the its blade, doing so to ridiculous lengths[7], with his Shikai being capable of extending the blade one hundred times its original length[8]. While Bankai extends it 13km[8])

Added Limited Empowerment (Buto Rejin - Gin can increase the strength of his Bankai's attack power by an order of magnitude, and the speed of his Bankai by two times with this technique[10])

Added Resistance to High Temperatures (Withstood the heat generated by Ichigo's Getsuga Tensho[8]) and Low Temperatures (Withstood the coldness from Toshiro Hitsugaya's ice[14])

Retsu Unohana

Added Summoning, Flight, Limited Animal Manipulation, Acid Manipulation and Healing (True Flight - Unohana’s Shikai creates a large sting ray like creature that she can control and use to fly. The stomach acids of this creature can heal the injuries of several people at once[3])

Byakuya Kuchiki

Added Enhanced Afterimage Creation (With Utsusemi, Byakuya can create a duplicate of himself that looks exactly like him and bleeds when cut from an article of clothing from his body[2])

Added Limited Power Nullification (Senka is an advanced Shunpo technique where Byakuya flashes behind an opponent and strikes at their Saketsu chain, and Hakusui soul sleep in one strike, effectively removing their powers and ability to use their Reiryoku and thus takes their powers[10]), Supernatural Willpower (In his first battle with As Nodt, Byakuya was capable of fighting with a hole in his chest, having his rib cage torn open and exposed, losing a hand, and being bombarded by his own Bankai before being defeated[11]. He was also capable of resisting the death inducement of As Nödt’s Fear through will alone[12])

Added Weapon Control and Weapon Creation (Senbonzakura splits Byakuya’s sword into 1000 petals that catch light in such a way as to appear like the petals of cherry blossoms[13]. Byakuya can manipulate these “petals” for a variety of defensive[14] and offensive measures[15]. Byakuya eventually becomes skilled enough to create entire constructs out of the petals to fight with[16])

Added Limited Barrier Creation and Speed Amplification (Byakuya’s Bankai is activated by dropping his entire sword into the ground, then creating multiple rows of blades that split apart into small “petals” of blades like the Shikai[6]. Senbonzakura Kageyoshi increases the number of blades to 100 million[17]. Byakuya’s Bankai is essentially an enhanced version of his Shikai, which means he can use the same offensive and defensive maneuvers from Shikai, but on a more powerful level. This includes swarming an opponent with several blades at once[6]. Byakuya can choose to control the blades telekinetically or through the use of his hands, which doubles their speed[3]. Byakuya can gather groups of blades together in order to block[3] attacks[18])

Added Summoning, Statistics Amplification and Danmaku (Senkei is the true form of Senbonzakura Kageyoshi[19]. It is a technique that consolidates the millions of petals into a “funeral column” of 1000 swords that acts as a battle field for Byakuya and his opponents[19]. Senkei greatly amplifies the power and lethality of the petals[3]. Byakuya is capable of summoning any sword from the column to his hand at any time to catch an opponent by surprise[3]. Byakuya can use several of these swords to pin his opponent to the ground[6]. The main ability of Senkei, Ikka Senjika fires all of the blades at an opponent at once[20])

Added Limited Transformation (Shūkei Hakuteiken consolidates all of the petals from Senbonzakura Kageyoshi into a white blade that Byakuya uses for a final attack[21])

Sajin Komamura

Added Weapon Creation (With Shikai - Komamura's Shikai allows him to project a large, translucent replica of his sword into the air behind him[3], increasing the physical power behind his strikes alongside his effective range[4])

Added Large Size, Statistics Amplification and Creation (Type 2 - Komamura's Bankai generates a large, samurai-like construct which replicates all of Sajin's moves simultaneously[5], this construct is incredibly tall, reaching over a 100+ meters in size[6]. The main effect behind this Bankai, just like his Shikai, is to increase Sajin's attacking power behind his strikes, alongside his effective range, just doing so on a much larger level compared to his Shikai[7])

Added Immortality (Type 7 - With Humanization - After offering his heart to his grandfather[8], Komamura is induce with the effects of "humanization", what this does, aside from the visual changes, makes Sajin invulnerable towards attacks[9], regardless of the attack being physical, spiritual, mental or even esoteric in nature, such as Bambietta Basterbine's Reishi bombs[9]. It also strips away the "life" behind his Bankai, effectively "killing" it and Sajin while under this effect, and instead transforms into a construct of pure Reiatsu[9])

Shunsui Kyoraku


Added Enhanced Afterimage Creation, Shadow Manipulation and Duplication (With Kageokuri, Shunsui can create an afterimage in a different location by getting at his opponent to stare at his shadow. If someone with an extreme amount of[7] Reikaku is staring at the shadow, an extremely life like image is created. When in the midst of a fight, the senses one uses to feel Reiatsu take an enormous amount of concentration, such that a person begins to subconsciously stop utilizing their eyes. This allows Shunsui to trick his opponents senses by consolidating his Reiatsu, making his opponent mistake his Reiatsu for him. If his opponent catches a glimpse of his shadow, anything that they see may or may not be a silhouette of Shunsui[7]. With this ability, Shunsui can create several clones to attack his opponent[7])

Added Damage Boost and Damage Reduction (Irooni is a game that allows Shunsui or his opponent to amplify the damage of his attacks on a specific color if they call it out[8]. The amount of damage dealt is dependent on how much of that color the person is wearing at the time, and the amount of that color on Shunsui[8])

Added Pocket Dimension Creation (Kageoni is a game based around not stepping on shadows. It allows Shunsui and his opponent to strike each other through shadows[8]. Shunsui is also capable of hiding within these shadows[8], and can create a pocket dimension in the shadows[9] that Shunsui can stay in for an extended amount of time[9], Shunsui is capable of teleporting himself[10] or others to alternate shadows[9])

Added Illusion Creation and Speed Amplification (Daruma san ga Koronda is akin to a game of red light green light. His opponent becomes “it” when playing this game. Shunsui is able to see the Reiatsu released from his opponents attack, then in order to touch his opponent, Shunsui can travel on the trajectory towards his opponents Reiatsu and travel the shortest possible distance to his opponent. During Shunsui’s travel, his opponent sees an illusion of him standing still[13]. This ability allows Shunsui to blitz[13] and surprise his opponent from large distances, even when they were equal to him in speed[13])

Added Enhanced Non-Physical Interaction (Shunsui’s Bankai, Katen Kyōkotsu: Karamatsu Shinjū summons his Zanpakuto spirits into the real world[14] to interact with the his surroundings and help him. The main ability of Shunsui’s bankai is to create a “play” based around the tragic story of the twin suicide of two lovers[14]. This ability works around the concept of “stages” or “Dan’s” with each stage having a unique effect, and each Dan is went through in order. These abilities could even affect Lille Barro in his intangible light form, and many of the Dan’s can negate durability with their effects)

Added Enhanced Perception Manipulation and Enhanced Illusion Creation (The Reiatsu Shunsui exudes in his Bankai creates a dark and gloomy atmosphere and causes all those who experience it to feel a sensation similar to the chills[14]. The activation of his Bankai also seemingly turns the sky into night[14])

Added Limited Immortality (Type 2 - The first Dan of Shunsui’s Bankai, Ichidanme: Tameraikizu no Wakachiai makes Shunsui and his opponent share all wounds they inflict upon each other[14]. They are incapable of dying whilst this Dan is in play, no matter how grievous the wound being shared is[14])

Added Energy Absorption, Empathic Manipulation and Temperature Manipulation (The third Dan of Shunsui’s Bankai, Sandanme: Dangyo no Fuchi creates a large body of water and submerges both Shunsui and his opponent within it, forcefully draining both of them of their Reiatsu until it runs out[14]. This water is completely inescapable, and the surface will only get farther away if you try to escape, forcing both of them to drown[14]. The water is not only cold enough to freeze one’s body, but is also capable of freezing their resolve as well[14])

Added Thread Manipulation and Explosion Manipulation (The final Dan of Shunsui’s Bankai, Shime no Dan: Itokiribasami Chizome no Nodobue, creates a large thread[14] that Shunsui uses to decapitate his opponent[14], then that thread is used to cause their head to explode[14])

Kaname Tōsen

While Shinigami:

Added Limited Cloth Manipulation (Sentan Hakuja is a Kidō that creates a a large white rope that wraps around Kaname and the people he selects to teleport them to a separate location[5])

Added Enhanced Stealth Mastery and Enhanced Camouflage (With the Reiatsu Concealing Cloak[6], Kaname can completely negate the emission of his Reiatsu, causing him to become unsensible to even Shinigami[7], he can also intertwine Kido into this cloak which causes him to blend into the environment and conceals his physical appearance[6])

Added Sleep Manipulation (Suzumushi’s Shikai releases a sound that is so high[8] that it peacefully renders the target unconscious[8]. The sound the Shikai releases can even free the blade from chains[9])

Added Creation, and Danmaku (Suzumushi: Nishiki Benihiko creates a swarm of hundreds of blades to attack the opponent[10])

Added Limited Duplication, Limited Weapon Control and Extrasensory Perception Negation (Suzumushi Tsuishiki - Enma Kōrogi manipulates the ring on the hilt of Suzumushi[11]. The ring duplicates[11] and the duplicate rings expand and spread over a large area[11]. This creates a large black dome around Kaname and his opponents, which is the catalyst for the ability[11]. This dome acts as an arena for the fight onwards[11]. Within the dome, all senses, including Reiatsu sensing are removed from everyone within the dome. The only sense that remains is touch[11])

While Hollowfied:

Added Statistics Amplification (Kaname can utilize Hollowfication[12], which amplifies all of his statistics to a level beyond a mere Bankai[1]. Kaname can further amplify his physical abilities with his Resurrección)

Added Enhanced Sound Manipulation (Los Nueve Aspectos manipulates sound in such a way as to act as a concussive force to damage an opponent[15])

I dunno if Gin gets the high and low temp resistances. The Getsuga left him injured even in the example you showed, and Toshiro's ice also damaged Gin.


It's not like he was unaffected by the Getsuga and Freezing

Everything else I agree with though.
The fact he wasn't instantly vaporized or frozen solid to the point of shattering proves he has resistances to both.

I'm not sure if that's how it works, but if it is then 90% of Ichigo and Toshiro's opponents need to get resistances to high and low temps respectively

That is how it works, look at the burns the Getsuga left on Grimmjow vs the zero burns left on Gin.

Grimmjow wasn't 'instantly vaporized' so by that logic he should get the resistance regardless so how much damage he takes shouldn't matter.

But as for the injuries they received, Gin is much more durable than Base Grimmjow. Ichigo's AP during the Grimmjow is hard to rate since his reiatsu was fluctuating like crazy during that time to potentially being above Base Ulq levels as well as Hollow Zangetsu giving Ichigo some power specifcally for that Getsuga. And later on when Grimmjow was nerfed and Ichigo was buffed via training and the mask, Grimmjow still didn't get 'vaporized' by those multiple Getsugas but he was getting leveled. And you can argue Bankai Ichigo post Ulq fight and Gin have a bigger gap in stats since Gin could fight Striped Mask Ichigo and thus Bankai Ichigo's Getsuga being a way less threatening attack in comparison to him and Grimmjow.

And in general, AP/Durability gaps determine the damage Getsuga's do more so than durability and heat resistance as separate factors.

Toshiro seems to be the same way. The bigger the AP to Dura gap in his favor, the more effective the ice is, the bigger the AP to Dura gap is in the opponents favor, the less effective it is. Shao Long or however you spell it and Luppi got smoked, Halibel and Cang Du in the anime resisted it much better. Gerard seems to be the one exception where he stated specifically he's resistant to the elements but still got smoked from what seems to be the AP gap in Toshiro's favor

But like I said, if that is how it works then most of Ichigo and Toshiro's opponents need resistances if they don't have them already

Grimmjow is BURNT by the black Getsuga, Gin is NOT burnt by the black Getsuga. So Gin inherently has better heat resistance than Grimmjow, it’s debatable

It is debatable cuz it can be argued that the 'burns' they receive is the 'damage' from from the AP to Durability gap. Ichigo doesn't have heat manip as a special property of his Getsugas on his profile, but now that I think about it, I do remember him saying something about Zangetsu passively burning the air or something. And there's the true shikai evaporation feat which was confirmed to be spiritual pressure. It seems to just be a property of spiritual energy attacks. Ceros scorch and or vaporize things, Renji burned Ifort or whatever his name was, and turned Mask to ash.

Maybe you can make an argument that 'generic' spiritual energy attacks in general has inherent heat properties and spiritual defenses/durability naturally block out temp based attacks both hot and cold as shown with the previous examples for heat and Toshiro and Rukia for cold, but that may or may not be a whole next discussion

Burns are from AP when it comes to energy attacks in fiction in general and in Bleach specifically if you wanna say other forms of media don't matter. I gave you the Renji examples and the cero examples already. Bankai Ichigo was weaker than Grimmjow, but 1.) Ichigo's power was fluctuation throughout the arc ranging from above Base Ulq to weaker than Base Yammy and 2.) Hollow Zangetsu empowered Ichigo's Getsuga in that moment. The whole 'everytime you were in danger it was your inner hollow that came to your rescue' narrative.

And Gin scales to Striped Mask Ichigo, so the gap between him and Bankai Ichigo would be bigger than the difference between Bankai Ichigo and pre Ulq fight Masked Ichigo.

Gin's profile has all his justifications either for scaling above Bankai Ichigo or for fighting Masked Ichigo off screen. And you're ignoring the context of the Grimmjow situation. Ichigo's power fluctuates from being above Base Ulq to below Base Yammy, and in the moment he did the Getsuga, Hollow Zangetsu was empowering it which gave him enough of an amp to damage Grimmjow.

You also kinda ignored that most energy attacks in bleach give burns and similar kinds of injuries. If you want to argue the heat hax route, then a revision about 'generic' spiritual energy attacks in general having heat based damage on top of AP, as well as stronger/more durable characters taking less damage from heat/cold based attacks in respective to the opponent's AP to their durability.

The profiles may treat AP and heat/cold as different kinds of damage but the series itself treats them all the same. Similar to how AP/Dura and Soul Manip are inherently tied together in Bleach despite profiles treating them as separate abilities. Not in this thread ofc but if it's accepted for Ichigo and Gin, there's no reason why others who took Getsugas and other spiritual energy attacks shouldn't have it.

But I got nothing else to add, I agree with everything else besides that and I think I said everything I had to say regarding heat here.

Yeah you can’t prove that claim. That only happened against Yammy. There’s nothing to prove it happened against Grimmjow.

The proposed abilities seem to be okay to me.

I'd get a second staff opinion just to be sure.
