BIG Splatoon Buff (Spoilers for Octo Expansion)

I finished Octo Expansion story yesterday and a major feat went down. I wasn't able to get footage of what happens when you fail but I'm sure a video of it will show up soon,

Splatoon 2 Octo-expansion - Final Boss Fight
Splatoon 2 Octo-expansion - Final Boss Fight

So before this, Marina states that the laser that this statue will shoot out if it is not completely covered in ink will destroy the world. Failing to beat the boss shows a cutscene where Inkopolis is destroyed. If you successfully beat it, Pearl screams into a Killer Whale to fend off the city destroying blast and sends it back and destroys the statue.

In my opinion, this would put Pearl at the very least City level. Note this did require a long warm up. I'm not sure if Inklings scale to this feat as it was Pearl's yelling that brought it to that level. I'll let a discussion spark about it.

City level Splatoon anyone?

I'll try and answer any questions when I have time. I'll also try and get the screenshots for the feats and scenes when I can.

Well, its strange that Pearl is superior to the normal Inklings developed for battle.

I believe Pearl was using a Killer Whale that was modified by Marina. Also note that Pearl participates in turf wars as stated from a lot of dialogue. So it is possible that she might be really good.

Is this an outlier?
Depends on your definition. This feat was done using a heavily modified KW iirc, meaning it can't be done unless that weapon is in Pearl's inventory. This is also a major plot point and basically the conclusion to the problem. Also, as WeeklyBattles stated, Splatoon did have a 7-C feat back in the original Splatoon.

"At least City level via Killer Whale".

I don't see how this could be an outlier.

Also, what the 7-C feat of the original Splatoon?

Octavio's mech absorbed all of the energy of the Great Zapfish, which can power the entirety of a huge city like Inkopolis indefinitely

He didnt knock out power on a city-wide scale, he absorbed the source of all energy that powers the city indefinitely

Matt supported the feat being tier 7

Assalt and I discussed the energy required to perform such a feat waaaay back for another franchise. Most power plants release 8-C levels of energy per second.

For the sake of referencing it.

"The Palo Verde nuclear power plant in Arizona is the largest nuclear power plant in the United states with three reactors and a total electricity generating capacity1 of about 3,937 MW."

The largest nuclear power plant in the United States generates near 4,000 megawatts at its peak, which is enough to power several major cities. So, as a general guideline, "powering-a-city" feats should peak at 0.3 tons - Building level.

Not sure if this is accurate, but I'd say this is city, potentially planet level. Earlier, before the fight begins, Marina states that the statue is charging up enough energy to destroy the entire world. This might be a translation error, but either way, it's still an impressive feat.

EDIT: Marina states this at about 9:48 in the video.

Another thing to mention is the fact that Inklings can use multiple special weapons at once, as shown by the Agent 3 fight where Agent 3 'removes their limiter', presumably meaning that normally special weapons are restricted, but if Inklings really wanted to they could use them whenever they want.

If they absorbed all the energy the Zapfish would ever make, it wouldnt have any to give back to the inklings when they recovered it. So I'm not sure where that idea is coming from.

I do think that the general Inkling should be upgraded to city level however since it was a Killer Wail which did the feat posted at the beginning of the thread, and every Inkling generally has one. The only arguments I've seen against this are that the Killer Wail Pearl uses functions differently, but both use ink and soundwaves to attack, so I don't see the difference.

Plus it's a common in verse fact that Pearl isn't even that good of a fighter, so I'd say it scales
