Battle of the lance lords

Oie transparent Ephraim
Dimitri Artwork 5Years
Ephraim came across Dimitri one day and decided he wants to test his skill.
Low 6-B Dimitri and 6-B Ephraim are used.

Battle takes place in Rausten and the fighters start a meter away from eachother.

Who wins?

Ephraim :

Dimitri : 1

Incon :

Byleth is about 5.8 Teratons, Ephriam is (currently) baseline 7 Teratons

That's only a 1.2 difference, Byleth's spells decently outrange, he can turn back time for mistakes or losses and has stat boosts and healing Ephriam doesn't have.

Ephriam, on the other hand, lacks anything like magic swords like Eirika, so he's just limited to strength and his skill, but Byleth's not too far behind in strength, is decently skilled and smart, and definitely has versatility as well as a rewind button.

I say Byleth takes this.

I think all the FE8 characters are limitted to their legendary weapons in their 6-B keys so it wouldn't really matter.

I thought we gave Eirika the magic swords, Joshua too...

Either way, doesn't matter...Lances have no variety between stab and throw, there's nothing we CAN give Ephriam here.

It gives Ephriam a chance to fight some, he's no longer completely outranged.

But Byleth still has elemental magic variety he can use creatively, stat boosts to minimize the (small) AP gap, healing, skill to keep up.

...And a reset button.

The closest this fight gets is melee range and Divine Pulse being restricted but even THEN Ephriam has only a tiny lead in strength against a guy who has a bigger arsenal and is similar in skill, if not superior, to him.

I don't think Ephriam wins this battle unless FE8 gets that revision we occasionally talk about doing and it goes anywhere.

Yeah, Ephraim vs Dimitri would be a closer match up, Byleth has everything but AP in his favor which is so close in retrospective it doesn't even matter with Byleth's Stats Amp.

Changed it!

The FE8 cast have magic swords in their High 8-C, but their Holy Weapons are the only Tier 6 attacks they got.

Ephraim has the AP advantage with 7 Teratons, while Dimitri has 5.8 Teratons. While both of them are very skilled lore-wise Ephraim has the tactical advantage at being capable of higher tactical accomplishments than Dimitri, while also having a huge mobility advantage in horses.

Dimitri, on the other hand, can migrate his AP disadvantage via damaging boost and pasive skills that makes his durability and survival better and is faster with Stats Amplification. Also he has the range advantage, but it's largely migrated via mobility. Let not forget that Ephraim could manipulate his soul in case of emergency with his Sacred Stone. Voting Ephraim.

I should point out that Dimitri could spam the Knight Killer technique, which is an Anti-Calvary attack. And using it combined with his Hero's Relic makes it more broken.

Also, I don't see how manipulating his own soul helps in the thread.

Why would Dimitri ever use Knight Killer when he has his personal weapon's technique, effective against everything?

And his crest can also double the already impressive damage on top of that.

Also, "tactical advantage" is more or less useless.

Being a genius in military tactics doesnt make you a genius in 1 vs 1 dueling. Skillfuly managing a lot of soldiers =/= being good in 1 vs 1.

Ephraim is technically an excellent one on one duelest given his training with Duessel, but Dimitri is much better in that regard for sure. But the fact that Ephraim only tied with Innes in a sparring match post game kind of shows he's that he isn't fully the strongest man in his own universe.

Dimitri has much more 1 vs 1 experience than Ephraim by far. The guy stayed alone for years in the Monastery. Fighting bandits.

I think I'm changing my vote for Dimitri, Dimitri has a higher versatility and he is the better trained fighter of the two.

On the other hand, tactical advantage is a huge deal in skilled warriors in Fire Emblem and they have been proven to be very strong for the most part due understanding both the tactical aspects of being expert tacticians and respected warriors for they skill and strength in the battlefield, such as Marth, Alm and the trio of avatars in Smash.
