Average range?

Could i put average Ranges and Attack Potency of realistic firearms in character profiles by scaling off real weapons?

Like, could i say that Mr.Burn's rifle has Hundreds Of Meters range, or that The Player (Counter-Strike) has Hundreds Of Meters with most intermediate-cartridge and rifle-cartridge weapons, and Kilometers with precision rifles like AWM?

And what should i scale them off, if exact model of weapon is unidentifiable? To average weapon of a class (e.g. "average World War 1 bolt-action rifle", "average 9mm SMG", etc)?

Many fictional weapons are pretty inaccurate to similar real life counterparts though, so this could have some issues. Shotguns are nowhere near as short range as they are in games, for an easy example.

Well even then, they often end up being Tenths Of Meters range without slugs. Real shotguns are at it's upper border while fictional are at lower border - but general category is same.

They usually treat the shotguns as using buckshot or something else with a large-ish spread, but often their effective range is barely five metres in games.

There's also less obvious examples like guns that have way more power than their real life counterparts. There are issues with assuming equal range and such, even if it makes sense in theory and would hopefully be accurate most of the time.
