Goku seeks strong opponents and will, therefore, allow his opponents to reach their full power for the sake of a good fight. (DBZ and GT)

  • People argue that is most prominent in the Frieza saga, but at that time, Goku lost his reasoning due to his rage.
    • Goku: "But I have to defeat Frieza now, while I still can or the entire universe will be in danger. [Dragon Ball Vol. 21 Pg. 212 or Chapter 314]
    • Goku: "Beat it right now, before I lose what little bit of reason I have left!" [Dragon Ball Vol. 22 Pg. 51 or Chapter 317]
    • King Kai: He's no longer Son Goku. He's the warrior consumed by rage, a Super Saiyan. [Dragon Ball Vol. 22 Pg. 99 or Chapter 321]
  • The only time this occurred in the Cell saga is when it was Gohan's turn to fight Cell and he gave him a Senzu bean.
  • During the Buu saga, Goku intentionally held back against fat Buu so Goten and Trunk could defeat him. He wanted to prepare the kids to be the next saviors
He often drops his guard and leaves openings for his opponents whenever he gets distracted, lowering his durability. (For DBZ and GT)

  • Other than the rock scene in the DBZ anime, the laser scene in Super, and the bullet scene in Super, I don't remember any scenes in the original DBZ manga that represent this weakness.
