Josh does have a good ranged advantage, with the ability to pull out Guns and fly, but Kirito has many skills to close the distance, and has experience with people "lolnope"ing out of the battle, like with Elluin. Couple that with abilites that let him hit many times in rapid succession, and his AP advantage, and he should win.
