Honkai: Star Rail Discussion Thread

You guys wanna know the genuine worst part?
If I recall correctly, a while ago, there was a staff discussion thread meant to address the issue of many verses that were neglected/overlooked by staff, aiming to actually point out how the way things are isn't really working out too well for them, and at least trying to come up with ways to alleviate this...
... Buuut instead of even trying to come to a real compromise, since it was a staff thread, it ended up pivoting to, surprise surprise, catering to popular verses and mostly ignoring the original purpose of said thread. (Not to blame or hate on any of the staff but that's just sorta the way things went from my pov)
To be blunt, the chance of thread actively wanting to involve themselves in some crt's is lower than the chance of a Kangaroo Pathstrider kicking down your door 😭
I remember. What it resulted in was staff getting defensive and it lead to just slightly altering the staff application pages. Literally NOTHING came out of that. Keep in mind, I still have an acausality thread for acheron and it's about to be 3 months. Staff changed their mind like 3-4 times, gave me a bunch of neutral votes and they won't come back one last time to clarify what i am meant to do 😭😭 granted that thread did indeed become a shitshow. but only bc it took like 2 months for staff to eval it. which is normal that it bloats if theres NOBODY MODERATING THREADS.

Like there's REALLY simple to solve this btw. They can just appoint verse-specific staff from the community that are in good standing and make some rules about it so there's no absurd favouritism or something.

I also remember this - it's insane how a verse as large as HSR with millions of monthly active players just goes ignored so easily, lol. I'm sure there's plenty of people willing to take on the mantle of being staff to actually give eval to this verse and other verse(s).

I DO see why they want to maintain the status quo - New staff members will always be aware of their thread before other mods, if something is pushed through and staff are made aware after grace, then the upgrade is practically unstoppable.
But this also exists in other places on the website, some verses get blatant staff favouritism. No names will be mentioned.

Not to imply that I should be scouted out or anything but all I'm saying is that if I were, in theory, granted staff privileges, I would totally try to address any CRT's people threw my way...

Jokes aside, yeaaaaaaah, it just feels like there's a degree of blatant favoritism. I do think there isn't a good, easy solution out there, but there are hardly any attempts to alleviate these issues. I do guess there is the concern of staff pushing through questionable CRT's, but like you said, that kinda can already happen... And also, that's the whole point of a screening process- Trying to reduce the likelihood you recruit someone who ends up just hard pushing for agenda's without thinking it through first.

Yeah... not me. Having to review stuff seems like it'd totally suck the fun outta things. Not that I've got enough comments as is rn. It's not that I wouldn't mind people trying to scout me or whatever, it's just that in my mind it'd totally be boring getting jumped on the profile. I'd probably set up a format for it or something.

There's always gonna be pros and cons. Unreliability for speed - It's what happens, especially when we're forced into having a controversial verse so everything takes 1.5x the effort.

I mean we already need 3 staff votes as a controversial verse. And even then, bad CRTs still pass. And we've settled plenty of issues without staff input. There's genuinely not much to be controversial about anymore. What's left other than CM and Aeon stuff? Having a verse-specific Staff appointed would just make things faster which we desperately need.

That's fair, lol. Everyone's got their own tolerances and limits, and I can definitely see that perspective... Though yeah, we're both Thousand-Message fella's, so we're far cries from what sort of people staff would gun for, I think. It just means less responsibility, on the bright side.

True that, the controversial label is basically a debuff on the verse as a whole.

I agree 100%. HSR and Hi3 fans do enough in-fighting to keep each other in check as is, which I have noted several times should be cut down on. I think it's more labelled as controversial due to the backlog of CRTs made, partially due to myself covering things that literally haven't been touched on before. Hell, there's two up rn, but the Core Key one could prob be closed. The amount of discussion in them doesn't help, but as you've touched on, that's:
  • Derailing.
  • Or a backlog from staff absence.

With your Acheron CRT, perhaps it'd be a good idea to make a CRT regarding requesting for a few Hoyo specific staff members? Genshin has one in Twilight, I'm not sure about ZZZ, but HSR and Hi3 CRTS definitely take a while.
You can use the Infinite Speed CRT as evidence of this too.

It's def staff absence imo. We've reduced the spamming to a very large degree. But if nobody comes to direct the conversation, we get to nowhere. We can't always control the flow. It's why we supposedly have those people that step in and regulate discussions.

Keep in mind, in regards to yesterday's conversation, I blame them as well for how this community has been shaped to talk about so much stuff off-site or require the consultation of every single member to make a single CRT because if there's no mass agreement, the chances of them evaluating lessen even more. With their absence, their "controversy" and other awful practices they've practically driven off a lot of discussions and alienated the community.

What I find funny is that in the meantime there's the staff thread to give everyone acau 1 cuz of MWI... ohhh

but yeah honestly if no staff is gonna join my thread after specifically linking it to antva and telling him wtf is going on, then a thread to appoint staff specific members will NEED to be made.

It's been a long time since ZZZ had any crts, but from what I've seen, the most recent one took like 2 weeks

the one before that took like 1 week

and the one before that also took like 2 weeks

so I think ZZZ is like mostly fine during crts, idk

I mean, there has to be a place for scan storage. Once profile restoration for Hi3 is done, I may be able to store everything publicly on MEGA.

As for the 'every single CRT is discussed off-site and it won't be posted without mass agreement' I can only comment on my group, but there has not been a single CRT that has been drafted and gone unposted. Nova, Toxic, Berny, Shin etc are not in this group. We discuss very specific points of contention and try to cover them, in a more public discussion these argumentations left half patched can easily be brought up and used to defang a CRT. OPSEC is important in literally everything. We also use it to share scans and theories.

Evidently, it's been successful thus far because very few CRTs have went unapproved.

Yeah. Or at least a rule made for staff that if they don't want to a review a CRT, they have to state they've seen it and why they don't want to review it, so issues like the CRT being too long can be addressed if they pop up.

I'm considering bringing up the noticeable lack of staff for the staff discussion in the all-purpose request thread. If nothing else, it might bring up awareness of the CRT, even if only slightly.
I'll support if you do that. Give it a day or two. I posted on Antva's wall. If he ignores it as well then we'll really have to try for desperate measures

Yeah nah this type of stuff has been on-going for years and at the end of the day, there's always no solution/idea that's been implemented that genuinely works so far. I could name Shinza Bansho which should've been a staff thread since the OP himself asked yesterday for it to be made as one, and currently I still don't see it in the staff discussion threads for some reason. My main problem isn't even about verses, but rather about terminologies because genuinely I had one of the most straightforward revision and that was to make every single 1-A character default to Immeasurable Speed due to their own nature.

Guess what today is? It's literally the end of July, I proposed THIS from the end of May and it doesn't CHANGE that we legit had the PRECEDENT for it. 1-A character defaulting to Immeasurable Speed is already there on the explanation itself that 1-A characters is qualitatively superior/transcendent to distance and time anyway. It's genuinely so abhorrent man.

That thread of yours keeps getting recommended all the time idk how its still unresolved 😭It seemed fairly reasonable esp after what ultima said. I find it funny though that people were being over it until he dropped by.

But still, there was a whole thread on how slow and unresponsive things are and nothing changed except... appointing three new people and changing some things on the staff application sites. I don't think this does anything consider since then some staff retired. Things were just recycled. I also do think this verse is being pretty much sidelined cuz of its reputation...

For some reason the forum blocked my IP address but it's fixed now yippeee
I was lowkey scared when this popped up cause I genuinely thought the feds were onto me

Everytime peoples mention immeasurable speed here, it's genuinely always remind me how honkai achieve immeasurable speed feat from sirin at first, yet at the same time the same sirin barely could dodge subsonic falling atomic bomb

She wasn’t even at her prime at that time. If it were Sirin when she got the four Gems and amped up Void Authority, I bet she coulda dodged that easily.

speaking of starblazer

should starblazer get a profile and all the AE scale to 3-B with starblazer or no profile and just the rating

I am joking, don't take it seriously

Or else we would take seriously 801 petatons continent level welt
