The Pillars and their fragments: Upscale of Doom​


The tooltip text for a Nebula Fragment (what is dropped after the Nebula Pillar is defeated) very clearly states that it "contains the power of a galaxy". Pretty blatant. From our Kardashev Scale page, a single Nebula Fragment would have the output of around 4 * 10^37 watts/joules, or a 5-A (Large Planet) level of energy.

The Pillars are constantly stated to be cosmic/celestial in power in things such as the Bestiary entries of the enemies they spawn, like Drakomires that are "harnessing the power of the sun" and Star Cells which use the "limitless power of celestial energy" to fight us, the "Star Destroyer" achievement that you get after defeating all four Pillars, or their own Bestiary entries which state that they represent celestial events like nebulae and vortexes.

The Pillars drop up to 100 fragments, meaning that the stat mentioned earlier should be multiplied to get the actual power of a Pillar.

The power of each type of fragment should be equal, if not at least relative, as you can craft each type of fragment if you have the three other types, meaning that the other three Pillars would scale to this as well.


TL;DR:
Pillars scale to 4-B, and the others that would scale are the Champion, Moon Lord, and Dungeon Guardian.

Affected profiles: Post Cultist Champion, Pillars, Moon Lord, Terra Blade, Zenith, and finally, the Dungeon Guardian.

This calc is currently not evaluated by a calc member, so unfortunately it can't be used until it is.
 
The calc isnt approved yea, but it should probably be made again with a 2nd end thats just luminosity of all stars in the galaxy to give evaluating staff a lower and higher end to decide they feel would be more appropriate

I'm not really sure how to feel about the Dungeon Guardian... as he inherently is just a Gameplay Mechanic/gimmick intended to be unkillable, preventing the player from accessing the Dungeon before defeating Skeletron. Its the same as Skeletron/Skeletron Prime in daytime, having the same stats as it, one-shotting and taking only 1 damage.

Unless there is some inverse description/lore about it being so powerful and stuff like that.

to be fair Skeletron's and Skeletron Prime's day key would just be the same thing as the Empress Of Light's (funny as that is)

I wouldnt worry about flowery language when the energy statement is relatively straightforward. Fury of the universe is pretty much impossible to quantify and is a lot more vague. If anything it supports at least some cosmic levels of power existing. With "energy" you can at least take a reasonable minimum like luminosity since theres only so many forms of it.
 
I agree with using the statement, it’s probably one of the most direct AP statements you can get for this sort of thing lol

That said, I agree with FriendOfTheTeaParty that luminosity/energy output makes more sense than KE, so I’d rather we use that instead

Okay so here is the thing if it has the energy of an entire galaxy and that's the total energy of a galaxy if it uses all that energy at once how much energy does it have left to do literally anything else after?

Why would you assume that it can only use the energy once?

Math it has the energy of 1 galaxy so if it used all the kinetic energy of the galaxy logically there wouldn't be any energy left afterwards. Previous people agreed that using the light energy of every star in the galaxy made sense but depending on how fast you consider the Terrarian the wattage might not logically be able to keep up.

I don't think I understand what you mean by this. Do you mean that the Terrarian would use up all the energy too quickly?

generally we use the energy emitted by a star as the benchmark for this stuff, but that is measured in watts aka joules per second given how fast some characters act they logically would be using more watts than that if they struck with the same amount of joules every time they attacked. Then I remembered stars are old as hell and in theory it could be using energy the stars unleashed like a billion years ago or something and it is space magic this is not a good point.
