Hello Everyone!

In Arifureta Volume 5, Hajime has a very good feat of fighting magma serpents at nanosecond timing. This results in an impressive value of 14.23 times FTL in this speed calculation

That is nice and all however... I was told that the official translation for Arifureta Volume 5 had a mistranslation issue as the word nanoseconds does not exist !

I have gone through Raws of Volume 5 of Arifureta to find the same exact scene and I have found that it does not match the scan used in the Official English Translation. Only the 1st scan is important here, but I included the 2nd scan so that people can see the scenes being nearly identical and following after it and still nothing mentions nanosecond timing being used.

I have asked for the same scans to be translated here, and it does not mention any timeframe in the raw Japanese such as the timeframe of Nanoseconds. This seems to be a weird exaggeration by the English Translator working on Arifureta Light Novel as the raw does not hint at this whatsoever and was an oversight that wasn't looked into initially.

This would debunk the speed calculation used for Arifureta in the case of Hajime being 14.23x times faster than Light.

Hajime, while surprised, for the time being had rendered the magma snake unable to act by scattering various parts of its body in all directions, so he passed by its side and tried once more to jump toward the central island using Aerodynamic Force.
However, it seemed the attacks of the magma serpents were not yet over.
At the very moment Hajime tried to pass by its side, despite having lost its head and having its body scattered all over, it suddenly twisted its body and rammed into Hajime.
Hajime fired the shot shell in his prosthetic arm, and using the recoil, shifted his body and barely succeeded in avoiding it.
Then, at that moment, a chill ran down Hajime's spine.
Following his instincts, without a moment's delay, Hajime repeatedly fired the shot shell in his prosthetic arm while also using Aerodynamic Force, rapidly leaving that place.
Then, as if pursuing Hajime's trajectory, magma snakes leaped out one after another from the sea of magma, and with their gigantic jaws, Bakun! Bakun!
they snapped them shut. - Arifureta Volume 5 Chapter 1

Hajime, while spinning round and round in midair as he retreated, landed on a nearby foothold. Yue and the others also came over beside him. While Hajime was being attacked, it seemed the barrage of flame masses had temporarily stopped.
...Hajime, are you alright?
Yeah, no problem. It seems the real target has finally appeared.
To Yue, who gently touched Hajime's arm while worrying about his safety, Hajime responded by gently touching back without taking his eyes off the front.
Reflected in Hajime's eyes were the magma snakes appearing one after another with a zabaa! sound.
As I thought, the central island seems to be the destination. It is as if they are saying, If you wish to pass, defeat us first.
But the one Hajime san shot earlier regenerated normally, didn't it? Can they really be defeated? - Arifureta Volume 5 Chapter 1

Now the question is... what would most of the cast scale to... now that the speed feat from earlier seems invalid?

Luckily enough, This in-depth and well-done Blog here has some good replacement values such as Shizuku dodging lightspeed attacks and Liberators being comparable to Lilith who moves at Near Light speed. Most of the cast should default to Shizuku's values (Baseline FTL) used instead of the Magma serpent's feat used for the profiles currently.

Agree : @Zanesucksatlife @AlexSamDen @Enter_Bluey @Cipher72 @Celestial_Pegasus @EL_xWatcher1234x @RitsuØ1 @Ruler_Star_Kuma
Disagree :

There are the multipliers to consider as well, but been too out of the loop of Arifureta to propose the scaling myself, but they still wouldn't be baseline FTL, they get way faster than Shizuku was.

From my rusty Arifureta knowledge, Liberators were comparable to Lilith before they got a major upgrade due to training, and also Apostles present day were upgraded by Eht, so they are superior to what they were in the past.

Volume 5 Hajime is comparable to them, then around volume 8 or 9? He beats them without using any of his amps.

And that's without factoring the amps he got in the final arc.

Also according to @Tom4t0GG789 :Shizuku didn't move at FTL speeds in Volume 4

Lilith didn't move at near-light speeds in Volume 4 Zero

Eri didn't dodge attacks in nanoseconds in Volume 12

Riftwalk doesn't increase Hajime's speed by 12x
