I was wondering, what's our current stance on Paradox Pokemon scaling? Based on the only current profile we have, that of
Iron Valiant, it seems we accept that they scale to their normal counterparts. The thing I was wondering though, is if Paradox Pokemon scale to one another, since if so, they would all be
High 6-A, possibly
3-C to High 3-A, scaling to
the Paradox counterparts of the Swords of Justice.
Additionally, Koraidon/Miraidon can
take a hit from Stellar Terapagos, although I haven't worked out Terapagos's scaling. I initially thought it could scale to
other region's legendaries, but you can only access them after beating the Indigo Disk, so i'm not sure.
My take on it is this:
Area Zero is considered too dangerous for regular people to enter, & you're given access after you've proved yourself by becoming a Champion Rank trainer. (Not to mention the whole Way Home storyline requiring beating all 3 storylines of the Titans, Team Star & the Gym Leaders.)
Ergo, Paradox Pokemon are considered Champion Rank trainer challenges. This is supported by even the earliest Paradox Pokemon Encounters that happen as part of the story being taken on with multiple trainers of the group. (Ex: Player character & someone else's Pokemon vs 1 wild Paradox Pokemon.)
This can be tied to Tera Raids thanks to Jacque's dialogue about 5 & 6 Star Raids, as the former is considered dangerous, & the latter, IIRC, seemed unthinkable to the point Jacque is startled when the player character tells him they completed one & won.
5 Star requires seeing the ending credits (Clear The Way Home.) & 6 Star requires winning The Academy Ace Tournament as well as clearing 10 4 or 5 Star Raids.
So a single wild Paradox Pokemon should be equal to multiple Champion Rank Trainer Pokemon (Like 1 or 2, at least, maybe more?), since there are multiple times the quartet going into Area Zero go into groups to deal with multiple Paradox Pokemon. The player character's Pokemon may be an exception, as besides being prodigious, they defeat AI Sada/Turo, who claims to have data from all of Paldea's trainers or something & use a full team of Paradox Pokemon. (That or AI Sada/Turo's claims are faulty.)
A Tera Raid Pokemon is powered up by Tera Crystals & can 1vs4 Pokemon. & again, 5 Star is Champion Rank, 6 Star is Academy Ace Tournament winner. Ergo, Tera Raid Battle Pokemon (Of 5, or 6, & maybe 7 Star.) massively upscale from Champion Rank, & likely owe that mostly due to the Tera Energy they are infused with.
Terapagos is the source of the Terastal Phenomenon, so it upscales from that.
Ogerpon recreated the Terastal Phenomenon, & IIRC, there are Tera Shards in the masks it used. (& it's possible Pecharunt wanted the masks because of that power. I forget if the legend video gave a reason.) (That said, The Teal Mask is weird, especially if level scaling is used, because it has either early game or post-game levels; Which is used depends on if you begin it before or after completing The Way Home.)
Blueberry Academy recreated the Terastal Phenomenon, & there's probably some statements about how they're very strong/competitive, even if you deny level scaling.
In theory, there may be some scaling to derive based on the fact that the Terastal Phenomenon, as shown in Tera Raid Dens, can make Pokemon able to 1vs4 even strong Champion Rank Pokemon, though the masks & BBA may be a downscale since the dens are less saturated.
There may also be some statements to consider (Ex: In The Indigo Disk, there may be things about Kieran or Carmine commenting how strong the wild Tera Pokemon are or something.), which would hold weight given Kieran's scaling chain.
Lastly, there's Terapagos breaking a Master Ball, which based on Team Plasma research statements, don't allow a Creation Trio captured with them to use full power, hence the need for the Red Chain(s). Assuming you don't deny that the Master Ball can limit Creation Trio Avatar level power, Terapagos breaking a Master Ball may be notable. Or it's plot-induced stupidity.
It may also be worthwhile to consider which Pokemon &/or which trainers we deem as Champion Rank.
1 of the Titans (Depending on version.) is an amped Paradox Pokemon, but it's not impossible for the player character to be just that much better, especially since all 3 stories can be done in any order.... But it'd be weird to scale Paradox Pokemon as above Champion Rank Pokemon & include in that definition an amped Paradox Pokemon.
Maybe Gym Leader mons or Team Star mons? Or just fully evolved Pokemon? (We may have to assume lower amounts of Terastal Energy, though.)
Pardon all the words, please.
