They should have human form like Durin. There was no reason for them to remain in their dragon form which was so huge that it was bigger than a mountain, or even Nibelung who was bigger than a planet.

If we compared the sacred city of tollan and Xiuhcoatl's corpse, Xiuhcoatl was still 3-4 times bigger than his city.

Not to mention, Xiuhcoatl was present in the Chamber of Deliberation, and that chamber was so small compared to his size.
