Stranger Things Season 5 Discussion

Haven't seen episode 7 yet but wasn't it confirmed that it wasn't an alternate universe, but a wormhole between 2 planets?

It is referred to as a "dimension" on multiple occasions, the Duffers called it "Dimension X," I don't think there is any reason to think that they are planets.

When Dustin says that specific phrase, he is referring to the Upside Down. The Upside Down is a bridge, a wormhole between one dimension and another, not a dimension in itself. That's what Dustin said.

It's so over for Vecna, but I hope he doesn't get killed with the same method he used in Season 4. Would be way too predictable.

Just saw the episodes. I’m a bit unsure if vecna is merging 2 universes or even planets and not just hawkins and another dimension.
Dustin keeps using “Hawkins” and “worlds” interchangeably when describing the merge. Not to add, that the plan steve came up with has to do with interacting with dimension x from a long radio tower which suggests it’s just 2 flat planes merging. It’ll be clearer when the next episode drops.

So after Volume 2, will Dustin get an upgrade for being able to harm Steve? (Granted, Steve wasn't really doing much to fight back)

Also, while Will's abilities were ultimately overpowered by Vecna, Will did manage to temporarily incapacitate Vecna and break his leg.

Lucas also got a pretty good feat in kicking back a Demodog that was leaping right at him.

I’ve got a lot to say actually, I yap a lot, more than what i’m supposed to say usually, but i’ll try to be concise once again.

A lot happened, but i’ll start from Max little adventure with Holly. Holly’s been pretty brave. She kinda reminds me of Mike in season 1-2, but just smarter. How she quickly deciphered that “M marks the spot” related to the M shape on the mountain and needed to stand at the sport where it perfectly fits or aligns was impressive, but she would have gotten hurt if Max wasn’t by her side. When they both went underground and saw little Henry, i think that’s when Henry took the serum that made him what he is. If you think of it, henry didn’t result to his powers at that moment and resulted to using a stone to kill that scientist (which was pretty wild lmao, like why will you shoot a kid that’s just trying to help?). I see some people complaining about the whole ass speech Max gave Holly before returning, personally, i think that was really necessary because despite Holly brave moments, she’s still a little girl at the end of the day. Not to add she was a tad bit unstable and Max needed to make her feel better plus tell her where she needed to wait for them. As for Max’s return, yeah, just yeah, that was an extremely emotionally heightened scene, it’s factually impossible not to feel a thing when Lucas saw Max open her eyes for the first time in 2 years. Good thing she isn’t blind bc i thought she would be when she returns (y’know the white pupil and all). Erica reaction to Max return is funny as hell.

Will finally opened up to everyone about his sexuality, and i think that’s pretty brave of him (i guess he didn’t need the truth Serum haha), and i’m glad everyone accepted him for who he is, and assured him his paranoia wont happen. Everybody’s really supportive on that, and that’s good. Also that was an amazing acting from Noah, i really felt that. We finally for that “Run scene” lol, I thought something bad went wrong then, but that’s a relief. On my soul nobody’s dying this season. I’m also glad the discrepancies between Steve and Dustin got cleared out, they used to be such great best friends and i think at the end of the day, Dustin was just scared of losing Steve like he lost Eddie. I don’t know what they mean by “If you die, I die” because NO ONE is dying please. The Nancy-Jonathan situation got cleared aswell.

Kali’s return got me excited for the first half, but i think she’s pessimistic in a way, but at the same time realistic. Her view on things is understandable because witnessing your entire circle of friends being killed and then becoming a blood bag for an experiment can quite change one view on life. There are other options to this, you don’t submit to the system or kill yourself to escape the system. There’s always a better option, and someone has to tell her that.


I think the biggest surprise this volume was the fundamentality of the upsidedown, whole time i thought it’s just a mirror of the real world but it happened to be a wormhole. I’ve also got a question if Eleven created it when she tried to reach Henry from dimension X, or is it just a scientific reaction? Idk. For some reasons, I feel like won’t get further details on dimension X, if it’s actually a universe or just a pocket dimension.

Probably. I think all the party members will just be physically 9-C atm. They’re all comparable to eachother and I don’t see Dustin one-shotting Mike.
 
It just occurred to me that whatever tier Holly withstanding getting thrown into a bookshelf in Volume 1 is, might now be able to scale to the AP of the other random elementary school students after episode 7.

Also from Volume 1, I'm curious what sort of LS results the Demogorgon tearing a hole in the roof of Murray's truck would get. If tearing a hole in a limo roof can get Class M results, I'd imagine tearing a hole in a truck roof could get similar results.
 
I’m not entirely sure they’d scale to Holly’s durability since that was in the mental plane, and i’m unsure if her mental self is comparable to her irl form physically, there was no mention of it too. For all we know, they can take damage and even pass out temporarily but that’s about it.

As for the LS thing, maybe? that’d be a nice upgrade. I narrowly missed the scene it happened, could you try linking it?
Do we have anyone physically scaling to Demorgorgons?
