I have some questions about the canonicity of the games:
1- Is RE1 Remake canon in the remake or original timeline or both? This seems confusing because Lisa appears in RE1 Remake but also in Umbrella Chronicles while this game is canon in the OG timeline. RE0 Rebecca also appears in RE1 Remake while RE0 is supposed to be canon in the OG timeline too.
2- If Capcom plans to make a new RE1 Remake (similar to the last remakes), how will they handle the canonicity between RE1 OG (1996), RE1 Remake (2002) and the new RE1 (if it is planned and ever released)?
The more I think about it, the more I believe that SebasRayado was actually right in this thread. It just seems like the OGs and Remakes are part of the same timeline and that for Capcom, RE has a loose canon and only the broad strokes matter.

we just do separate profiles anyway because both of them are so different, its like having Anime and Manga profiles for characters

And why not just take into account as true canon only the broad outlines of the games' stories and merge the OG/Remakes pages? Because that's what Capcom seems to do. There are differences yes, but they don't change the overall story.

I'm not gonna combine Remake and OG Timeline Leon's profile into one because the Story for RE4 while looking similar has been changed in places, example they are no longer after the Dominant Plaga, but the Amber in 4, Leon has weapons and mechanics that are in 4make, but not in RE4.
Krauser's backstory has changed and has no relation to Wesker anymore, Operation Javier depicted in 4make is different from what we got in Darkside Chronicles, the way Krauser died is different now.
Capcom can do whatever they want with the canon, but combining them in our index makes shit much more difficult, i don't know why you guys are so adamant on having Remake and OG profiles combined as one, are we gonna index OG RE2 and RE2 Remake in the same profile? That makes shit much more confusing.

I know there are differences but it doesn't matter because it seems that for Capcom only the broad outlines of the stories are completely canon and the details don't matter.
This is because separating the Remakes and Originals pages is not necessarily accurate to Capcom's vision of the Resident Evil canon.

Basically this.
RE1 remake is canon to the original because that game came out in 2002 and it essentially replaced the OG RE1 and every game subsequent of RE1 reamke’s release (so Umbrella Chronicles and RE5) build upon that story’s lore (basically indoctrinating Lisa Trevor into the main canon). REmake 2, 3 and 4 have vastly different stories and lore from their OG counterparts (especially 3 and 4). Like yeah Capcom doesn’t really care about the timeline and do treat the remake story as essentially replacements or the same as the OG, however I think it’s better to keep them separate because they have different lore from each other.

Not really. We can treat them as the same thing while still having separate profiles for them, big example is probably the DBS Anime and Manga. Clearly they are canon, but how the story plays out is so different that they created two separate profiles for it.

The setting in RE9 is pretty much in Raccoon City and Leon is literally the perfect person to be put in here, so saying this as an exploitation is a exaggeration lel
