DCU General Discussion Thread

I'm more inclined to believe that Gunn meant that he (whichever GL he was referring to) would rough up Superman and put up a good fight, not that he would win outright. That seems way more consistent with everything said before or since.

I wasn't sure about Supergirl (the movie) when I first heard about it. My only frame of reference for the character was the original movie and the CW show, neither of which I've seen because I heard they're both terrible for very different reasons. But after Superman, I'm all in.

Sueprman 2025, MAWS Season 3, Supergirl, and Man of Tomorrow? That's potentially three years in a row of peak Super-Family content, and I will be seated for all of it.

If those are your only point of reference, I would highly recommend reading Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. It’s the comic that the movie is based on, and it’s absolutely fantastic.

I do want to read it, but I'm also not sure if I should because I don't want to spoil the movie. Do you think it's worth it?

I might not be the best person to ask, since I don’t really mind spoilers, but I think it’s absolutely worth it, especially since the movie isn’t gonna be a 1-to-1 adaptation. Granted, it’ll be very close, but Gunn said they had to make changes just because of the differences between the comic and film mediums (plus Lobo is gonna be in the movie, and he wasn’t in the comic).

If a "murderous revenge" part (though it necessarily wouldn't be like Clayface) and being behind Krypto's behavior tells anything, then Kara could be the one who doesn't hold back in specific circumstances.

DAWG that episode was nuts, we're in completely uncharted territory now since no one has seen these last 3 episodes we're getting.
ALSO the Top Trio took out the same kaiju that Superman and the Justice Gang fought it looks like so like that's legit like tier 8 even if it was off screen

Anyone see the new episode of Peacemaker?

There was a kaiju that Peacemaker alongside his brother and father fought and defeated, and the size of it alone makes it seem like it could upgrade him significantly. I know Peacemaker does have gear and weaponry, but I feel like he'd have to have done some physical stuff in there.

Its the same Kaiju from Superman

Was it? Huh, didn't recognize it.

But I guess in that case we can use the same numbers we had for that one. And perhaps we'd be able to divide the energy needed to take it down by three, assuming the trio all put in the same amount of effort.

Nah its just really unfortunate its off screen so we can't directly scale to anything, they could've possibly done something like Mr. Terrific and exploded its insides we just don't know probably just applicable for a likely far higher rating

Huh, well we could do a tier for "with suit"?

it would be a shame not getting to give him anything for that.

Wait, since Gunn confirmed that it's the same Kaiju, does that mean that a hypothetical alternate Luthor is also responsible for it? I wonder why he'd do that.

Okay, Nightwing is basically confirmed, but I really don’t think the people at HBO Max have some insider information about who’s coming to the DCU and they put the Titans episode because we know there’s a Teen Titans movie in the works
Tbh I don't think they do either but it os funny, I think the wilder part is that they also recommend the episode of JLTAS with AMAZO and we definitely don't anything about him in the DCU so its definitely to be taken with a more than a grain of salt

An interesting tidbit from a recent interview with James Gunn regarding Peacemaker:

We see a Hawkgirl, Green Lantern and Maxwell Lord at the beginning of the season, and we see Rick Flag. Will there be more appearances before the end of the season?

GUNN: You’ll see one more character from Superman. There’s also one really big appearance by somebody in the end of the season that I don’t think people will see coming.
