Devil May Cry Discussion Thread

Trish does look good here. I do think the choice of Devil Arm has two problems though. Firstly Beowolf is owned by Vergil, and second I think with her lightning affinity she might fare better wielding Gilgamesh, a metal conductor, which it so happens is owned by Dante, and we all know Trish takes whatever she wants from Dante.

It is not really owened by Vergil '-'. If you mean like, Vergil is the person who uses the most it, yeah, but he doesn't really owns the weapon, Dante has it.

I also personally think it would be cool to see her with both Ifrit and Alastor, both as a nod to DMC 1, and because I think they fit, Alastor pairs well with Electricity while Fire + Lightining is nice

Don't know about that, given he wields it in DMC5.

Alastor is an obvious choice for her. In regards to gauntlets, the only reason to use Ifrit over Beowolf or Gilgamesh is its origin in DMC1.

I guess it depends on whether she wants to stick to electric powers or if she wants to add fire to it. I suppose if Pokémon like Typhlosion and even Ho-Oh have taught us anything, it's that fire and electric moves have good synergy...

Not exactly canon as he only uses when you play with him, otherwise Vergil would only have the Yamato as his weapon, on the same vein, Vergil can use teh Beowulf and Force Edge on DMC 4, even though his DLC story happens before the events of DMC 3, so it is very clear those 2 are only there for gameplay purposes

I'm only talking about DMC5. I know his DMC4 "campaign" (is it really his campaign if it's just a knock-off of the normal DMC4 campaign?) is not canonical.

It is still the same reasoning, Vergil only has the Beowulf and Mirage Edge because, otherwise, he would only have the Yamato as his main weapon. It doesn't even make sense how he has the weapon in canon, because he lost after Mission 13 and never acquires the weapon back

Actually, Dante never got Beowulf canonically it was for gameplay purposes only. It was stated somewhere, shortly after the Vergil DMC 5 DLC/SE IIRC and that's why we took beowulf out of Dante's profile

Yeah, Dante canonically never have Beowulf, same reason as DMC 4 SE Vergil campaign, it was for game mechanic. Hell, not even guidebook or 3124 artbook confirmed Dante got Beowulf. CD Drama where he rents all his previous Devil Arms to Enzo also show Beowulf isn't in there.

Nah I'm ******* depressed right now...
It probably just means the trademark expired. That's what happened with Bayonetta's "Fly Me to the Moon". Trademark expired and there was something about the franchise not being able to use the song anymore. I think Lollipop Chainsaw had the same thing with some of its music, since the Repop re-release had a few soundtracks different.

Tier-wise?
Both in universe and tier wise.
Granted, in universe it's never explicitly stated word for word but we can make some arguments based on the sources. Currently we have this

Lesser Demons: The lowest kind of demons, ranging from insects to powerless and even nameless demons. A very common rank in general, this includes which includes demons like Sid at the very bottom to the nameless demons Gilver summons and the Scissors family and the nobodies.

Low level demons: Most of the demonic population and the demonic armies of demon Gods; ranging from demons like Dagon, Bael to Frosts and Blitz.

Mid level demons: Outstanding demons that were either born that way or gained power after centuries or millennia which includes the likes of Berial, Echidna, Gilver and the bottom half of the Tower Gatekeepers.

High level demons: Demons of extraordinary power that are often considered close to the peak of power a demon can accomplish by normal means. Some of these can be the Demon Gods Generals, the higher half of the Tower Gatekeepers and minor demon lords.

Top tier: Demons of great power that are often considered second only to Demon Gods. This would include beings like Nightmare, Demon Lords of great power, Bolverk, probably the beastheads.

Gods: Demons that have acquired control over the demon world, the primordial darkness because of their might, often overthrowing the previous demon kings. This includes Mundus, Pluto, Argosax, Abigail, Sparda, The Twins.

Note that I'm not exactly sure where the beastheads land as a full demon. As a statue they have next to no feat and as a demon/true form they basically get folded by Dante.

Oh my.

Jokes aside, I just want some good DMC content in the future. I would do DMD difficulty blindfolded for a DMC manga continuation.
Personally I don't think new DMC games will come out as there is no more story to tell, unless they decide to adapt the novels into games which I would love. Imagine throwing hands with Void Mundus or Chen, that would be awesome.

--Varies. Their power is reliant on the Souls built up and used on the Beastheads to transform into Demon Power. When it was exhausted/had nothing, it was essentially inert. The energy it gave others was pretty middling. When Chen used it after a lot of experimentation, he outgunned Base DMC2-Era Dante completely, (though that was ALSO partly due to being 70% Sparda.) When Dante experiences it, it just re-ups him back to ordinary levels, as far as i know. And Beryl's bullet is Anti-Magic/Drains Magic (in a black hole), so it's likely that the reason why it was easily folded was because it was being weakened by Beryl (which is supported by the fact it reacted to try to flee Chen in fear once Beryl revealed her bullets, because it was of significant threat to them). Meaning it actually is far stronger than that when charged up, but in context was nerfed.

Ehhh. Pretty sure the beastheads doesn't use the souls itself but rather as a power up for other demons. The demon succubus Dante decapitates near the beginning of the novel had it and was able to throw hands with a casual Dante because of it, when prior she was running from Beryl in the temple.

Yeah for Chen it's a lot but that's basically all of Chen's powers + the beastheads as he learned how to use it to the max, not exactly a beastheads feat.

Nah, I'm talking to earlier in the novel before the BH isekais Dante and Beryl, there it is afraid of Dante and tries to use Beryl as a meat shield but when it ran out of options BH just BFR them.

Also, Chen was actually dead at that point in the novel. The BH just took control of the corpse to try and escape from Dante again.

I see. Maybe the Twins and Nero should be in another tier because at the end of DMC5 they are light years ahead of the Demon Kings I think.

I would love that too, especially because the prose in these novels sucks (at least the translation is) and it's boring to read imo. I managed to finish the first novel but not the second one.

But most likely I think it will be either a deluxe remaster (like they did with Dead Rising), a remake (like they did with Resident Evil) or a sequel with new characters.

Wait, I thought this part was VM who using BH to BFR'ed them into his realm
