As some have probably noticed, I am really not active on the forums anymore. My interest in the forums has declined a lot since last year and I think the right thing to do now is to retire.
Candidly, I think I was always a bit of an outlier in the battleboarding community. A big part of what drove me to participate as much as I did, which ultimately led to me becoming a staff member, was my sense of frustration with what I viewed as a culture of outrageous upgrades and profiles that were unrecognizable in comparison to the portrayals of the characters I loved. I saw a lot of value in trying to course-correct, and bring things back down to earth so that people who came to the wiki could explore the power levels of the character instead of some kind of absurdist caricature where a villain that routinely throws cars at his enemies is -- in fact -- said to be capable of destroying transfinite universes. Part of my decline in interest was the realization that this was -- as Fuji once put it -- a kind of Sisyphean effort that places me squarely at odds with the majority of our members, which ultimately led to a great deal of harassment, drama, doxxing, and grief on my part. I think ultimately I just realized I want to spend my time differently.
I had a lot of fun and made a lot of really good friends here, and was happy to work alongside and get to know so many smart, interesting, and thoughtful people. Even when we did not always agree, it was fun to explore different perspectives on abilities and power levels of characters and cosmologies and what not. I will look back on my time here fondly, I especially want to mention @Mr. Bambu, @GrathOfLux, @Agnaa, @Ultima_Reality, @Firestorm808, @Crabwhale, @Maverick_Zero_X, and @DontTalkDT. I had a lot of fun getting to know you all, and you're part of what made my time here really memorable. There are many others, of course, too many to name here. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention our Head Bureaucrat @Antvasima. You are really the one that keeps the trains running here and I wanted to let you know how appreciated it is.
So I suppose that's it for me. I can't rule out ever coming back, but I'd rather say a proper goodbye now than just sort of fade into the ether. Take care, everyone, and remember that this is all just for fun. Thanks for trusting me to be a moderator, hope I did a good job.
