Super Mario General Discussion Thread.

suppose that's fair

can't imagine how much she strained her voice when it came to those two (especially Toad's)
Toad's always been a weird case for me. Like, in the Nintendo 64 era, Toad sounded like a kid, but come the Nintendo Gamecube era and onwards, Toad sounded like a zombie or something..?

Has there been a calc of that fake black hole in Mario Party 9 that sucks in planets? Feel like we could get a solid lifting strength value or something for Bowser's giant form since he can resist being pulled in until he receives too much damage.

But then how do we determine the size of the planets? What is our frame of reference?
We don't know the size of the black hole either, do we, since we don't know the size/mass of what it's absorbing, nor its distance away or how long/wide/tall it is, do we?

That's just Bowser being closer to the screen than them, I'll put up a link later but Bowser isn't even a speck compared to them once he starts getting even remotely close to the black hole.
Compare the size of these planets when they're very close to the black hole to Bowser here, they're not much larger than him

they definitely are if the sizes are reduced to dots the closer they are to the black hole
Compare the size of these rocks to the planets when they're the same distance away from the camera, they'r e not that different in size. Like the planets are bigger sure, but not by the hundreds of times

Bowser never even makes it as far as the black hole in the same amount of time as they do, in that second clip you can even see his goofy death explosion even happens in front of two of the planets when they're relatively close to the camera, although having a proper look I'd say these look more like moons than planets.

Bowser's visibly in front of the planet on the right when he starts getting pulled in, yet despite only starting to get sucked in after the moon or planet or whatever is already closer to the black hole then he is, yet by the time Bowser completely disappears from sight while the planet is still very visible.

And in that clip the planets still look very small, like more building sized than moon or planet sized

It seems like Bowser is shrinking back to normal size, its easier to notice from that timestamp. It wouldn't make sense otherwise, since he's like the same size as the planet here when they're close to each other

??? That's just him getting further away

Again, he's just closer to the screen compared to those planets he's not literally right next to them, not sure why the moment he looks like he's comparable in size to them is somehow the exact moment he's also right next to them distance wise, could say the moment he's not even a speck while next to them just before he disappears is the moment he's close to the planet.

I don't know how to say this without coming off as rude but this like saying the moon is the same size as the sun because from our point of view on earth they're comparable in size. Like I said above Bowser gets dragged into the black hole after the planets are already closer to it then he is yet by the time he's no longer visible the same planets that were behind him are still there, and Bowsers death explosion happens in front of the planets even when the planets are at their closest to the screen.

He's roughly the same distance away, its only several meters

The problem is that the planets in that clip aren't even that far away. You can see from these scenes that they aren't even like, hundreds of meters away from the stage

Yeah and the only plausible explanation is that Bowser is shrinking/returning to normal size. Literally every other part of the video shows that the planets are closer to the size of giant Bowser or the platform they're playing on, even when they're beside the platform. Even if Bowser wasn't actually shrinking, that part of the clip you mentioned doesn't prove these planets to be like, Moon sized

I have no idea how you're coming to that conclusion, like why is Bowser that at moment somehow the point he's the same distance away as the planets (As well as does he somehow get dragged fast enough to catch up to the planet in the first place) are but any other moment he's not? Why not say he's the same distance away when he looks to be twice their size or when he's not even visible when next to them.

Based on what excactly? All we can see is they're in the distance compared to the stage. Depending on their size sure they could be hundreds of meters away, could be hundreds of km, could be a few km.

So your assumption on Bowser having to shrink is based entirely on thinking that his giant size is comparable to the planets so therefore he has to be shrinking to not look as big as them by the time he's not visible anymore? Huh? They're not even beside the platform in that link, they're still behind it since the towers on the corners appear in front of the planets.

Like I don't really care if you don't think the planets are actually planet sized or moon sized, but arguing they're small enough to only be comparable to giant Bowser is so weird. The planets are closer to the black hole then he is by the time he gets defeated and yet he ends up completely unseen before the planets are out of view, his death explosion even happens in front of the planets at their closest meaning he never gets closer to them in the first place, he only looks comparable to them in size in the same way my hand looks bigger than the sun.

This game won't give me MFTL+ 2-A feats, so what's the point? Boycott Nintendo

i hope donkey kong shows up

Questions?
I wonder; could this be a set-up for DK to get his own spin-off titles again? Maybe it could even lead to more spin-offs of the roster should this be successful.

Finally, a Dry Bones solo adventure...
Thoughts?
The game itself practically seems like Odyssey: Donkey Kong Edition, so I'm interested in seeing just how detailed/intricate the free roam spaces are.
Another slapstick moon feat. Maybe make the moon bigger this time.

I only want an enjoyable game with a host of good feats

I agree, I've seen theories of K. Rool being a twist villain and while I don't know how much I believe it it would be quite cool. At least them showing up would be nice.

We finally get an explanation on Donkey Kong Jr given the young girl that looks like Pauline thing. If they bring K. Rool back with a new alter ego I want them to act like it is a new character.

The Donkley Kong: Banaza Direct should begin in a little over 10 minutes from when I am sending this message. (I hope you all enjoy!)

Things I noted in the Direct:

SPOILER WARNING

DK has Limited Magnetism Manipulation (Can draw collectibles to him by doing a "Hand Slap" technique with his hands or his feet.).

Cranky & Rambi are venturing through The Underground World.

The Elders have Bananza Powers, which Pauline can learn to temporarily transform DK with her singing, making him Kong Banananza, Zebra Bananza, Ostrich Bananza. Collect gold to build up Bananergy. Can transform anywhere & swap between them.

Void Company has Grumpy Kong makes soldiers, Poppy Kong does info gathering, Void Kong leads.

Void Co. blocked off the routes to the lower layers so no one can reach them. Bosses there.

Banandium Gems everywhere.

Ancient Ruins have portals to challenges, like time limited battles, courses where "you'll need clever solutions", as well as side-scrolling stages, "& more". One seems to be a Wrecking Crew references.

There is a Skill Point system for stuff like improving punching, treasure gathering, sonar or learning new skills. One shown seems to be surfing on water on a chunk.

Gold can be exchanged for items.

Fossils are traded for styles.
DK & Pauline have outfits, & DK's fur can have its colour changed, clothing has effects while equipped.

Treasure Maps to show where stuff.

There's also a collectibles completion log.

DK can make Getaways & there's a music player, some enemies drop discs.

Subterranean Eels (Eelevators) can send DK to previously visited airs.
There are always player can also be Teeleported to other areas within a Sublayer.

DK & Pauline have a 2-player co-op. Pauline can aim vocal blasts & copy terrain for other effects/abilities.

Assist Mode guides with musical note trails & halves damage.

Outside of the main game, there's a stone carving mode called DK Artist. Sculpt, paint, carve, add or remove material.

DK & Pauline Amiibo available. Pauline's Amiibo dress doubles rate of disc drops from enemies. (Discs seem to be for playing music at Getaways.)

Diddy & Dixie seem to cameo in a cart-riding thing.

A cutscene features Pauline & DK falling, with DK trying to grasp her hand as she calls out to/for DK.

So, I wonder if this is some kind of prequel? Could that be a justification for DK's sunken eyes? But then why is the MKW DK like that if he's the modern DK?
